  1. It does mean it’s time for me to start watching college basketball though. The “one shining moment” of the season
  2. will reportedly skip the event entirely. It seems we’re bound to end up with two weakened Universiades this year
  3. Because snow conditions in Europe have been so ideal this season
  4. Centro Caribe Sports confirmed the inclusion of team kyorugui in taekwondo (along with the qualified nations).
  5. I just assumed Whistler had beginner hills since Salt Lake and Lake Placid have put them in (and many smaller local clubs around the US).
  6. PKF has been pretty good about updating quotas after competitions. Just give it a few days I guess
  7. @Olympian1010 will also be out for due to injury (and the fact he hasn’t played baseball in a decade )
  8. having a great winter sports season. Shame they missed out on a medal at the EYOF.
  9. Panam Sports confirmed the addition of team kyorugui to the taekwondo event program today.
  10. Conversely, I’d imagine there’s more sponsorship money in marathon running than there is in pole vaulting. However, I’d also imagine Mondo will be one of the best paid athletes for the next few cycles.
  11. Snow in Fontana, or anywhere in the LA Metropolitan Area south of the San Gabriel Mountains, is pretty rare. 6.5 Celsius is the average low temperature for Fontana in February.
  12. Palisades Tahoe got over a meter of snow in the last three or four days The weather is really crazy when California (the land of perennial drought) is getting blanketed in snow and Europeans are basically begging for it.
  13. On behalf of all Californians, I take offense The Sierra Nevada (“Sierras”) is honestly my favorite part of the state. There are many cool places in California, but nothing quite captures my imagination the same. However, I don’t think Tahoe would top my list of best destinations in the Sierras. Definitely worth a trip if you ever cross the Atlantic though
  14. California is getting blasted by snow right now too. LA area mountains had their first blizzard warning since 1989 this week. Tahoe is getting a decent amount of snow too from what I understand
  15. A couple more observations from this… First off, confirmation of quotas gained from the 2023 Central-South American Laser Sailing Championship last week: M ILCA7 - W ILCA6 - Second, there were some reallocation criteria used to allocate the remaining quota in skiff events: was awarded the additional ninth quota in men’s 49er on the basis of their result at the 2023 US Open Series (in accordance with the first criteria for reallocation). was awarded a boat quota in the women’s 49erFX on the basis of their result at the 2022 World Championships (in accordance with the second/third criteria for reallocation). were awarded boat quotas in the women’s 49erFX via world ranking (in accordance with the fourth criteria for reallocation), since the two regional qualification events were not held, and they did not register a result at the 2022 World Championships. Lastly, every country who earned automatic entry from the 2021 Junior Pan American Games has now qualified two boats in that class (as allowed). It will be interesting to see if that affects race dynamics in Santiago.
  16. He had good results at the last Winter Olympics as well This will probably be a horrible jinx for the seasons to come, but between him and Verdú, the future of winter sports looks bright for
