  1. Not to be lost amongst all the other news today…
  2. Marshmello will perform at the opening ceremony. Definitely a huge “get” for local organizers.
  3. Padel draws are out for those interested. Artistic Swimming, BMX Freestyle, and Canoe Sprint have also released their start lists for tomorrow.
  4. Don’t think we’ll see any medalists from today’s events from Division 3. A couple might be able to sneak onto the podium from Division 2.
  5. with two tough loses on the women’s side. They lead until the final point in first set of one game, and then came back and tied the first set in their next match only to lose the tiebreak point on a referee call (not sure if it was bad/good though). Both matches finished as 2-0 loses
  6. Venue looks pretty nice as well. At least on par with the standard set by other multi-sport games.
  7. E-sports has been added as a demonstration sport at the last minute.
  8. IBA court appeal reject. I guess unfavorable results can actually happen when the judges aren’t on your payroll
  9. Beach handball stream seems a bit steadier now.
  10. It’s easier on the quota distribution likely. If they lower the max per NOC now, we shouldn’t lose too many nations.
  11. Volkov (as the commentator says) takes the win No sure the time will be good enough for an individual medal…
  12. Volko with an opportunity to be a three time European Games medalist…let’s see how he goes.
  13. Preparing for the “IOC is killing sports” posts
  14. That was accidental. She meant to run slower
  15. did a great job of getting school kids out to the venues for the GSSE. Definitely something that should be done regularly. You could tell how cool it was for them.
  16. Tolj saves herself from disaster on the third throw.
  17. of all countries should know how valuable that can be given the Baku 2015 drama
  18. I’ve actually enjoyed the commentary team on the world feed. A few silly slip-ups, but they’re keeping me interested in the event at least.
  19. The 50 spectators in the stands will be disappointed
  20. I can view all the livestream in the US. The website and streams seem fine to me now.
  21. The broadcast manual did say many preliminaries would be streamed in a “reduced streaming quality.” I didn’t know that was code for actual dogshit though
  22. haven’t entered any athletes in Division 3, so AASSE won’t be in danger of a promotion this year was allowed to enter athletes in 2015, so I’d imagine they’d be allowed to again, but it seems odd that they’re missing.
  23. No, the EOC has clarified there will be no medal ceremonies for the individual events. Medals will be made available for team representatives to pick up and give/ship to the athletes at their discretion. From the EOC:
  24. They’ve added some metaverse content to the website. I got it to run on my phone. It didn’t seem like anything too groundbreaking, but maybe there will be more to it during the Games link: https://www.european-games.org/the-european-games-metaverse/
  25. I was able to get a question or two in with the CCS President at last week’s press conference. Here’s my background article with his words for those interested: https://discoverthegames.com/how-the-worlds-oldest-regional-multi-sport-games-miraculously-survived
