  1. The hype is settling in for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Down to three classes this year, but deep fields in each. Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot, Cadillac, Toyota, Glickenhaus, and Vanwall with HyperCar entries. NASCAR with a Garage 56 entry. Definitely the most excited I’ve been in a while.
  2. all entered athletes in the women’s bouldering at Brixen World Cup. They all failed to score a single zone, but still nice to see some new nations giving the sport a try. They would need to be ranked within the Top 36 of the Olympic Series rankings to have a shot at the universality quota.
  3. I don’t mind the idea of a mass start whitewater event, but the course needs to be wider and longer. It shouldn’t be so start dependent. There needs to be able overtaking opportunities. I would be nice to see a Mixed C2 make its way to the program as well.
  4. By the way, if anyone has any questions about what the event was like in-person, I’d be happy to try and answer them
  5. @Glen If you have time/get the chance, I’d love a run down on the language landscape in Malta. Before my trip, I was under the impression that English was widely spoken in Malta, but I didn’t necessarily feel like that was the case while I was there. Maltese seemed to be the preferred language of many athletes and officials I spoke too. However, I did feel like younger athletes spoke better English, and overall seemed more comfortable with the language. Also, is it typical for people switch between English and Maltese in the same conversation. I feel like sometimes I’d overhear people speaking in English, and then all-of-sudden it would become Maltese. It also fascinated me how many of the road signs and government placards were in Maltese, but most commercial signage was in English. I never really felt like I figured out the language landscape while I was there, so I thought I’d ask some questions now that my trip is over.
  6. is a political island
  7. Some welcome information for users I’m sure:
  8. Tough break for though Their best athletes (outside athletics) are probably in women’s squash and women’s table tennis.
  9. Your message might have gone to the wrong people there I believe they were just showing the native international live feeds produced by ISB (the company that did the The World Games in 2017/2022 and European Games in 2015/2019)
  10. Pat Casey - well known BMX Freestyle rider from competitions like thee X Games, FISE, and Red Bull circuits was reportedly killed in a dirt bike crash at another X Games athlete’s training area. I grew up watching the X Games and Red Bull circuits, so always sad when one of the athletes I enjoyed watching dies
  11. 2019 had the four live feeds on the Olympic Channel for international viewers. There was some long term controversy about Channel One (Russian channel) not paying the EOC what they were supposed to for the rights to show the Games. I’m not sure if that was ever settled.
  12. At least in past years when we didn’t take these Games seriously, we still sent athletes
  13. Trifecta of multi-sport games taking place at the moment. Virtus Global Games (for athletes with intellectual impairment), Youth Parapan American Games, and Para SEA Games. Streaming for all three events is available on YouTube, or other dedicated sites accessed via the official websites. Discover the Games should have a story on the Virtus Global Games this evening, or tomorrow morning for those interested.
  14. Huge story developing in golf. No idea what impact this will have on Olympic qualifications.
  15. It’s like chess. You gotta enter the “rapid” or “blitz” competition if that’s more your style.
  16. Probably the first European Championship where PornHub could legitimately be the host broadcaster
  17. I remember reading that there would be a “dedicated platform” for streaming the Games. Maybe EOC.tv or Olympics.com will come into play? I just hope it’s accessible for users outside the continent. We’re always the ones most excited for this event anyways!
  18. I respect and believe in the right to self-determination. I generally disapprove of the heavy hand my government has played in neighboring nations. However, I personally believe you can build a much healthier nation around other values. I would just advise caution around using race, religion, or ethnicity as the foundation or measurement for one’s nationality. Of course, pluralist republics aren’t immune from their own troubles.
  19. Maybe nationalism based around ethnic identity is unhealthy?
  20. Here’s the story of the race I mentioned above. Sometimes the stories I chase become something else entirely.
  21. They actually got two today. One in swimming, and a significant upset on the track. Pol Moya out kicked Tokyo 2020 finalist Charles Grethen in the 1500m final.
  22. Honestly, overall the quality of athletes competing across all sports seems pretty good from the lists I’ve seen.
  23. still the only country without a gold medal after Day 2. Trap in-person was pretty was cool, even for someone who doesn’t particularly like guns. still pretty dominant in the shotgun department.
  24. Shooting events have more helpful graphics than Tokyo 2020
