I thought this was a near-lock for Hong Kong. :dunno:

China or Korea progessing would be meh...

Hong Kong players are mostly of direct anglo-saxon ascendance, I find it more enthralling for rugby to see China progress than HK

It's not a near-lock but they are still strong favorites, they've played China at four occasions this summer, for the same amount of victories

Interesting how strong a team Hong Kong can turn out for Olympic qualifiers.

IOC rules are much stricter than World Rugby rules when it comes to nationality.

Same applies for the Philippines who were quite interesting at last HK qualifier tournament

The squad for Incheon is similar to the team that played on the world circuit this year so, at least for this qualifier because I don't know whether the rules are different here and at the Olympics, HK is a great contender

    Nope in Men's it's Japan.

Korea ,Hong Kong and Sri Lanka are all on the same side. (2nd best )

You're overlooking China :CHN, whose recent results indicate the progresses. This summer, they've reached 3 podiums during the 3 stages of the Asian 7s Championships, and one final beating Japan in the semis, eventually finishing 3rd in the standings behind Japan and HK :HKG.

I've seen them play a few weeks ago in Elche and they were way better than what I thought they'd be.

So my odds are :HKG the favorite in front of  :CHN and then :SRI and :KOR, with maybe :PHI to the semis.

:CHN really is the dark horse here ... they've come out recently as a team to be reckoned with, but a qualification for the Olympics would mean that Tokyo would be the first appearance of China on the global stage since HK 2011 (they've never even been part of the HK qualifier tournament)

I was surprised to see that order on the result list and am always confused: does the start list show the order or not? Because I checked for a few teams and in those it happened to be correct (last listed rider did the final lap, like Jason Kenny in I believe the 1st round), but I'm not sure if that actually means something :d

What confuses me as well is the Dutch team in the final being listed as Van 't Hoenderdaal, Lavreysen, Hoogland in the start list, but Hoogland, Lavreysen, Van 't Hoenderdaal in the result list :dunno:

Sometimes they just put the alphabetical order so you have to guess the right order :mumble:

But there is no way Van 't Hoenderdaal/Van den Berg are anywhere else than first

Nice team sprint final between Russia and China in the women's competition, timing said +0,000 at the finish :d Russia won eventually

Not very surprisingly the Dutch men won their final, Van 't Hoenderdaal utterly destroyed Truman in the final lap.

Van't Hoenderdaal in the final lap :mumble:?

I don't know what happened to Truman but he would have even been destroyed by Shmeleva and Zhong

  6. il y a 2 minutes, phelps a dit :

    team pursuit

women's competition: :GER Germany vs :BEL Belgium for Gold; :ITA Italy vs :FRA France for Bronze

men's competition: :DEN Denmark vs :ITA Italy for Gold; :GBR Great Britain vs :FRA France for Bronze

No it seems GB overlapped Belgium who nonetheless continued to make a time that would allow them to participate to the bronze medal match (time they didn't achieved)

The results document indicates WIN for GB so : :GER v :GBR for Gold and :ITA v :FRA for Bronze

I like the elimination race, but when the omnium consists of four events, all of which are endurance events...meh. Nothing wrong with having the flying lap and/or kilometer in there.

I strongly agree, and with the tempo race being a short version of the points race you don't get that much versatility
