So here are the difference between 2024 and 2028 and my opinions:
 
Aquatics
In swimming the 50m backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly were added while the women's water polo tournament will now have 12 teams. Additionally, 11 men's athlete quotas were transferred to the women's side.
 
In general, I'm okay with the 50m events and despite women's water polo having shallow depth I am happy they are now equal to the men. The IOC still wanting to keep the core sport quotas to 10,500 is a bit ridiculous, but I'll go into that at the end. While the athlete split isn't shown for the disciplines it's quite likely swimming loses 11 men and women quotas each (maybe they might take a couple from diving/marathon swimming).
 
 
Archery
Mixed compound team was added.
 
I've been a big supporter for compound archery being added to the Olympics. Unfortunately the individual events were not added which I dislike. If you are going to have athletes in team event then they can also compete in the individual. I would like to imagine World Archery is slowly bringing the event in. Since no new athlete quotas were added recurve will have fewer archers competing. I imagine recurve will be a 48-52 person tournament. 
 
 
Athletics
Mixed marathon walk relay was removed, mixed 4x100m relay was added.
 
I feel the program has become worse with this change. Not that I felt the walk relay is important, it's not and I wish we would get the 35/50km walk, but at least it preserved some race walk. The mixed 4x100m relay adds nothing extra to the program. This will be repeated a few times, but a mixed event should not be added with the gender component unless if fundamentally changes the event. There's no need to have both a men's/women's and a mixed 4x100m relay.
 
 
Basketball
The 3x3 events will be a 12 team tournament. The athlete quota has increased by 32.
 
Great move. It was ridiculous that the event only had 8 teams so the increase was much needed. Honestly, if we weren't stuck on the 10,500 athlete limit I wouldn't mind seeing 16 teams.
 
 
Boxing
Women saw an increase of one event, equaling that of men (7 each). The weight limits of each category was slightly adjusted.
 
Equaling the event size between genders was expected and I'm glad they decided to increase the women's count rather than reducing the men. The women's athlete quota remains the same despite the event increase, but still remains the same as the men.
 
 
Football
The men's tournament was reduced to 12 teams, the women's tournament increased to 16 teams.
 
I'm glad the women's tournament is up to 16 teams. The qualification system for Europe has been brutal and I imagine Asia will be happy too. I wished they didn't reduce the men's tournament, but the 10,500 athlete quota limit forces them to do so. Ultimately, I agree with the move as the women's tournament is more prestigious.
 
 
Golf
Mixed team was added.
 
I await the chosen format, but ultimately I think it's a good idea to have the event.
 
 
Gymnastics
Mixed artistic team was added.
 
What a weird event. As mentioned before since the men's and women's team remain this is a useless event that doesn't need to included.
 
 
Modern pentathlon
The athlete quotas has been reduced by 8 (4 men and 4 women).
 
This was likely done to reach the 10,500 quota limit. Overall I dislike it, but it's not the end of the world.
 
 
Rowing
Lightweight double sculls have been removed. Coastal single sculls and coastal mixed double sculls have been added.
 
I'm not familiar with coastal sprint canoe, but from what I've seen in videos I think it will be a nice event to have. Losing lightweight double sculls is a bit of a shame and I'm not sure I would make that trade given that coastal rowing isn't well developed yet.
 
 
Shooting
Mixed team skeet was removed, mixed team trap was added.
 
The mixed team shotgun events continue to be cycled. Considering they don't use any additional quotas, I don't see why they don't just have both at the Olympics.
 
 
Sport climbing
The combined event was removed and replaced by separate lead and bouldering events. 8 additional athlete quotas were added.
 
Finally the sport has its proper individual events. I still commend the strategy of going with the combined event in 2020 as a type of Trojan horse with the idea that the IOC will want to keep it.
 
 
Table tennis
The men's and women's team events were removed. Men's and women's doubles and mixed team were added.
 
As a person who likes doubles table tennis I am happy with this change. To keep the athlete quota consistent mixed team is almost necessary.
 
 
Tennis
Mixed doubles was removed. Mixed event was added.
 
While I wasn't a big fan of the mixed doubles event (it's barely played during the ATP/WTA calendar, I don't think we need it replaced by a mixed event. The format hasn't been revealed, but I imagine it would be similar to the Davis/BJK Cup format. My fear is if they're attempting to add the event to the second week as I imagine many players will opt-out.
 
 
LA Only Sports
Baseball/Softball, Cricket, Flag Football, and Lacrosse will be 6-team tournaments and Squash will have 32 athletes (16 men, 16 women).
 
While expected, I am very disappointed that the team sports will only have six teams. You can't showcase the sport really well with such few entrants. Cricket is a great example, there are many smaller nations which play the sport, but we are likely to see only the large nations compete. Squash only having 16 athletes is also a bit small, but it's at least manageable. 
 
 
Final Thoughts
Some good, some bad moves overall. I need to stress that the 10,500 athlete limit among core sports while increasing the number of events is not sustainable. The 2000 Olympics had around 10,600 athletes yet only had 300 events. We now have 341 core events, an increase of 14%. Even if you want to argue that there was bloat in 2000, the 2024 Olympics had 327 core events, meaning we had an increase of 4% yet no new athlete quotas. While some of these new events don't need more athletes, some of them do. Honestly at minimum the athlete quota for core events needs to be increased to 11,000 while more realistically we should be closer to 12,000. If the IOC doesn't want that many athletes then they need to remove events/sports.

I feel like not having the shooting events separated by gender is actually pretty reasonable? In Paris the gold medalist of the women’s event had a higher final score than the gold medalist in the men’s event in the 50m rifle and the 10m pistol (and multiple women had high enough scores to make the men’s final).
 
Olympic shootgun shooting used to be open and it was fine.
 
Also think of the bright side: no more mixed team events in shooting!

The last time this happened - all three athletes on the podium had zero podiums before - was Les Saisies sprint in December 1990: Uschi Disl, Elena Melnikova (future Sergei Tchepikov's wife) & Kerstin Moring. The latter two never finished on the World Cup podium again. This was also the race where Disl became the second youngest World Cup winner ever (currently down to third because of Neuner).

Additional Sports at Brisbane 2032
 
The final sports program for Brisbane 2032 can be reasonably expected in the first half of 2028, as occurred in 2024 when confirmation of the Los Angeles Olympics final sports program was announced.
 
Boxing
While Boxing was “scheduled” from the next two summer Olympics, this sport is currently suspended from both LA2028 and Brisbane 2032 until a new governing body (World Boxing) can formally take over the management of the sport and run the competitions at the Games. At Paris 2024, the IOC itself ran the boxing competition as a one-off only. the previous boxing governing body (IBA) has been kicked out of the IOC family after an extended period of governance breaches. for LA2028, boxing may yet be added as a late includion. for Brisbane, I’m confident with the expected full approval by the IOC of World Boxing to govern the sport, Boxing will be re-instated at the Olympics and in 2032 is planned to take place at Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre.  
T20 Cricket
Cricket is a hot favourite to continue at Brisbane 2032 following it’s debut at LA2028.
 
77 countries play T20 Cricket world wide according to the latest ICC World Rankings.
 
 
Flag Football
This sport is actually becoming very popular in Australia and also world wide.  There are 20 million players around the globe currently playing Flag Football.
 
So, I think it has a better than even chance of being continued at Brisbane 2032.

Lacrosse
This is another booming sport internationally.  
Australia is ranked 4th in the world in both women’s and men’s Lacrosse. It’s another sport which has a good chance to continue at Brisbane 2032.
 
Lacrosse was played in the Olympics in 1904 and 1908. It was a also a demonstration sport in 1928, 1932 and 1948. 
 
AFL Nines / Rugby League Nines
Both AFL and Rugby League I believe will really struggle to win a spot at Brisbane 2032.
 
The days of “demonstration sports” is long gone from the Olympics and I can’t honestly see either making it on to the final Brisbane 2032 program.
 
Netball Fast5
With both women’s and men’s teams, I think that Netball Fast5 (women’s and men’s) has got a fair chance for inclusion in 2032.
 
Fast5 women’s world series competitions have been played since 2009 with men’s teams included since 2022.
 
Australian Men’s Team wins Netball Fast5 World Series and does viral dance  
Incidentally, 50 countries currently play the regular Netball format with Australia ranked No. 1 in the world.
 
Baseball / Softball
Both have been in and out of the Olympics over the years so much its hard to keep up.  They were recently dropped for Paris 2024 but included at LA2028.
 
It’s 50/50 if they will continue to Brisbane 2032.
 
Surfing and Sport Climbing
Surfing and Sport Climbing will soon be formally added to Brisbane 2032 sports program with both having earned permanent sport status from LA2028 onwards.
 
3x3 Basketball
3x3 Basketball is already part of Brisbane’s sports program in 2032 and will be played at the Southbank Piazza.
 
Karate
Following it’s debut at Tokyo 2020, Karate was dropped for the Paris 2024 and LA2028 and not looking good for Brisbane.
 
Breaking
As we know, Breaking was dropped for LA2028 and I can’t see it being included at Brisbane 2032.
 
Permanent Status at Olympics
 
Once a sport is played at three consecutive Olympic Games, it becomes a permanent sport at the Olympic Games.
 
So from LA2028 onwards, the following sports will officially be permanent in the Olympic Games:
 
3x3 Basketball BMX Freestyle Skateboarding Sport Climbing Surfing  

Paris 2024 will turn a (small) profit. But a profit nevertheless.

Bilan plutôt positif (euphémisme) de ces CDM asiatiques.
 
victoire pour Loubineaud à Nagano sur la mass-start, deuxième succès français de tous les temps victoire pour Belloir sur la mass-start B, ce qui devrait maintenir les deux Français en A désormais. Le problème pour Loubineaud c'est qu'à l'emballage il n'est pas forcément en mesure de lutter, et qu'il est vraiment attendu maintenant, difficile de l'imaginer partir en solo. Belloir a probablement plus de chances de ce côté là, donc plusieurs cartes à jouer. excellentes prestations de Braun, 4 courses (1500/3000), 4 records de France, une qualification aux Europe all-around validée + une montée en groupe A sur la mass-start lors des prochaines CDM. côté - hormis Loubineaud sur 5000 difficile encore d'exister en individuel mais les chronos ne sont pas si loin de l'an passé aux même dates, en attendant Calgary. La poursuite un peu loin aussi, il faudra passer un cap pour se donner une chance de qualification olympique la saison prochaine.

Un petit mot sur la Coupe du Monde Junior de Football féminin qui a lieu actuellement en Colombie. La France était dans un groupe avec le Canada, le Brésil et les Fidji. Le premier match face au Canada s'est terminé par un score nul 3-3. La rencontre suivante s'est soldé par une défaite 3-0 face aux Brésiliennes. Heureusement, les Françaises ont bien renforcés leur goal average en humiliant les Fidji 11-0 (Qui ont encaissé 29 buts en 3 matchs). En huitième, les Bleues rencontreront le 2ème du groupe F, c'est à dire soit la Corée du Nord, soit les Pays Bas, soit l'Argentine. La dernière équipe du groupe, le Costa Rica, est déja éliminé.

Nice gold...but 16s advantage? I can't get used to such races. It's like it's not his category. For me differencies between athletes are too extreme here. Much bigger than in womans boxing. But here everyone is extatic..me...this is the reason i find it difficult to watch.

'Quota' is number of participants per country in each event. Qualified but non-participation is not included in Quota.
'Top 8' is the number of events a country finished in Top 8.
Conversion = Top 8 / Quota which implies Contingent quality.
'Normalized Points' = Points / (Number of events in that sport). For example, if a country wins just 1 Gold in Archery, they will get 10 points but 10 points/ 5 events = 2 Normalized Points. This metric will be high for countries who earn points in multiple sports.
Aquatics events  has been divided into sports like 'Artistic Swimming', 'Swimming', 'Water Polo' and 'Diving' otherwise 'Sport' can be defined as set of events governed by same federation
 
Salient Observations
1) The nations' rank for points is closely related to rank of total medals won
2)  is ahead of  in points table by a fair distance but very close in Normalized Points as  dominates multiple sports like Diving, Table Tennis, Badminton
3) Countries like  ,  ,  , are ranked high in points table but low in Normalized Points as they won medals in very few sports
4) Despite winning no medals,countries like  ,  ,  have earned decent points
