  1. Poor Andreas Seppi...a top 20 once, this is his 15th years in a row in top 100, and people never heard of a player from South Tyrol.
  2. Pity for Iran, they would also have helped Italy a lot.
  3. There is no B Final at the WCh so I think all the finalists will qualify. See what happened at World Relays this year: -4x100m (no B final) Italy DNF in final but directly qualified for the WCh; -4x400m (with B final) USA DQ in final, no direct qualification for the WCh.
  4. I think the Americans know very well that even if they win the World Cup it's only because Nicolò Melli is not playing...otherwise they would have no chance

  7. I don't know if Kuwait refused entry to Israeli shooters but that's certainly not the reason for suspending their NOC, that has been suspended a few times for government interference. https://www.lawinsport.com/content/sports/item/governmental-interference-in-global-sport-why-kuwait-is-still-in-the-olympic-wilderness
  8. Nope, Kuwait was suspended for government interference as their law allowed the government to take control of the NOC and the sports federations.
  9. you're wrong. The only limitation is (and was) in the Continental qualification regatta (where Italy can't participate btw), not in the final qualification regatta.
  10. This is not written anywhere in the qualification document. And in 2016 at least one nation (China) qualified two female boats.
  11. And which newer sports should be added?
  12. Egypt would need to be in top 20 of the world ranking to get the African quota. According to my calculations Egypt is 21st right now (after those 14 teams listed in your link+ 4 continental winners+ Scotland and Wales). Anyway here's an article with excerpts of SASCOC selection criteria https://m.sport24.co.za/OtherSport/South-Africa/sa-hockeys-path-to-olympics-uncertain-despite-qualification-20190821
  13. In my opinion, also looking at the qualification document, this means that the only window to accept or refuse a quota is after the qualifiers, so South Africa having won the quota can't take part. They could still refuse later (in that case the best ranked loser will qualify). Apparently the men's team should have satisfied their NOC requirements with their top 2 in Hockey Series.
  14. There was like an interview a day on a certain newspaper...Mazzanti, De Gennaro, Danesi all knew about the rules. They just tried to win instead of resting some players and losing 0-3 or 1-3. L. Bosetti is injured and trying to recover for the quarterfinals. Pietrini was in the roster but a few days before the tournament she asked Mazzanti to go home because she is not in a good physical and mental condition. They wanted to call C. Bosetti but it was too late, she had been on holiday for a while and was in bad shape, so Mazzanti chose Enweonwu (another Opp.) from the u20.
  15. Rules say that in this case Slovakia as the lowest ranked host country is switched with Spain. 2-3 is the worst possible result for Italy, they would have lost 0-3 or 1-3 if they wanted to lose on purpose. Now they'll have to travel to Slovakia to face Slovakia, then to Poland again to face Russia. And then Serbia in semifinal.
  16. Now it can't happen anymore because Italy has won the group... but Spain or Slovakia will be a sure win (yeah, Slovakia a bit harder at home but no way Italy lose against them) while Germany in quarters and Turkey or NED in semifinal would have been easier than Russia/Poland in quarters and Serbia in semifinal
  17. Italy has no motivation to win this match tbh...and if they lose 3-0 or 3-1 they'll also have an easier draw.
  18. Not at all, If Slovakia had won over Russia, Slovakia would have been 2nd in the group. With Slovakia 2nd and Poland 3rd, Poland would have played Germany (in Poland) and Slovakia-Slovenia (in Slovakia) Btw, if Poland win 3-2 over Italy, then Slovakia will play Italy even with Italy topping the group.
  19. Nope, see Deguchi yesterday...her semifinal was the first despite being in the bottom half of the bracket.
  20. Tunisian top fencers did compete against Israelis this season so I guess that at least their top athletes are free to do what they want without being thrown out of the team (I remember it made the news at the 2011 Wch in Italy, with Besbes "only" losing on purpose her pool match against an Israeli despite being ordered by the Tunisian fencing federation ordered to retire). I don't think there is another situation comparable to Mollaei-Muki over the last years (involving two of the top athletes/team in their event, multiple times in decisive matches of high level competitions)
  21. It's not, the programme for 2022 is known since last year...maybe in 2026.
  22. That's the point, it's a quota assigned to the athlete that must be accepted or refused by the Japanese NOC in the next couple of weeks (like the open water swimming WCH for example)...if they accept it, there won't be a chance to replace her. I think the best choice for them is to accept only one quota, and then use the Asian Ch. next year as a selection event (and in case no Japanese gets the quota there, they'll use the one reserved to the host)
  23. I think if Wales are 6th, Scotland 7th and Ireland 8th, then Wales could be as high as EUR 6. But it's extremely unlikely anyway.
  24. Looking at the ranking, I think (but I haven't done all the calculations) that Wales-Ireland will also be important for the Olympic qualification. If Wales manage to not finish 8th*, Egypt could lose its top 20 spot. Edit *counting 2017 and 2019, for which they probably need to finish 6th here?, so not very likely.
  25. 2019 World Cup, Stage #7 (Lahti, FIN) Men's Skeet Gold: Luigi Lodde Silver: Eric Delaunay Bronze: Azmy Mehelba Olympic Quota: France, Egypt
