  1. OCOG proposed sports do not count. They are designed as one-offs in theory.
  2. I guess this also shows how much belief IOC actually has in these mixed events. Turns out they are not expecting milltions to tune in for this urban and youthful format.
  3. Fun fact, is mixed team trap the first event ever to be removed before it was even held for the first time? They started being proactive about removing Slovak events.
  4. Almost feels like that CSLX thing was added out of pity for Slovakia.
  5. 36 show jumping rounds in 20 minutes? What the hell? 15 min fencing??? Is it mass fencing (aka everyone stabbing everyone)?
  6. There you go. Nigeria instantly guaranteed to qualify for the Olympics. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/athlete-biography.html?sectorcode=cc&competitorid=150093
  7. I was somewhat worried, because IOC. But then again, FEI was awarded the best international sports federation last year, so removing places would have been a highly controversial decision. There are plenty other dumpster fire federations out there.
  8. Hell, London 1948 had a road race with 101 entrants. But, you know, the global economy was so much better back then so they could have afforded it.
  9. Paris 2024 will be the first Olympics with zero 100+ participants individual events since Melbourne 1956 (!). Rome 1960 could have afforded something Paris will not. Wow, that just fails to make any sense whatsoever. Meanwhile, rather interestingly, artistic gymnastics will now become the sport with the largest individual event.
  10. Reading this on the official program is just horrifying.
  11. You mean MCSLX and WCSLX? Could almost pass for a roman calendar.
  12. Minus the fact there will be (probably) 6 nations per team sprint event?
  13. 16-team men's football tournament is here to stay apparently. Surprised golf had no cuts.
  14. Does this mean the teams of 3 will be required to have 50% men and 50% women?
  15. Which means they got lucky with synchro swimming, rhythmic gymnastics.
  16. "Credibilitiy and use of technology" was officially cited as one of the reasons for the 50 km exlusion. No surprise there. IAAF could have, and should have, done something in this regard.
  17. Last time weightlifting had no more than 5 events per gender was Berlin 1936, Coincidence?
  18. At least that one is still not a part of the official program, but rather of "let's make hosts happy" bonus?
  19. Coastal rowing out. Good. Offshore sailing too has no place at the Olympics. Both need specific venues that few cities can afford.
  20. He did say 'to be replaced with some mixed team event'.
  21. They will replace it with some TBD mixed team event.
  22. First time ever Eritrea qualifies for women's 10000 m.
