1:54.20 Canadian Record for Nicolas Bennett (S14) in the men’s 200m freestyle para final for a total of 997 points! For some context, a WR is 1000! 

I’ll be watching all finals sessions, so every highlight swim at the Canadian Open I’ll be doing live updates for 
 
Day 1 finals start in a couple of minutes 

New SB for Oleksiak in the heats of the women’s 200m freestyle at the Canadian Open! 2:00.91, which is a pretty solid improvement (almost two and a half seconds) on her 2:03.27 registered at the TYR Pro Swim Series Westmont abou ta month ago. Hopefully she can drop more time in the final. 

That’s such a good result for us !

Kafadar is a former junior world medalist. She has potential

At least Air Canada is stepping up
 
Air Canada, a sponsor of the event, has offered to waive any change fees and fare differences incurred by those with flights already booked to Montreal.

At least they have chosen the best venue

After the news on the fire that occurred and the damage it had done I was hoping that they would switch it to Toronto, the Pan Am Centre is a faster pool and I’m expecting great times there. On the other hand, I feel sorry for the families who will have to scramble to change their tickets from Montreal to Toronto just one month out from Trials.

Canada has clinched a men’s 4x400m relay quota for the World Athletics Relays! 
 
With that, all five relays will be going to the Bahamas! (hopefully I’m not celebrating prematurely but the deadline is today and we’re still in 32nd so…)

I did say I was going to do the field events in part 3, but this takes up less time so I’ll do it now.

With the Paris Olympics coming up, I decided to construct a list on potential athletes for our eventual Olympic squad for Paris. I’ll be doing my best to update some of the results from these athletes (if not already reported about) heading into the Canadian Olympic Trials. When the Canadian Olympic Trials are over and our Olympic squad is set, I’ll be doing the same thing for athletes heading into Paris. To make it easier for me I’m only including names that have had performances either in 2023 or 2024, which means that names like Knight and McBride are not on the list. Also, for SBs/PBs none of the races are short track or have wind above 2.0m/s.

Canada defeat Brazil on penalties (1-1, 4-2) and are through to the She Believes Cup final! Solid win heading into the Olympics this summer. 
 
Up next, an encounter with our long time rivals the United States on Tuesday, for the title. 

Nicholas Zhang qualifies for Paris in men’s epee fencing through the Pan American Olympic Qualifier! Down 12-14 with only seven seconds left (albeit kind of controversial point at 14-14) and he comes back to win the match! With this result, we’ve guaranteed at least one athlete in each of the three weapons (epee, foil, sabre)

Our fencing team will have 11 or 12 athletes, which I would say is a really good result.

The mixed team also won gold

Avery Krume wins bronze in women’s slopestyle at the Junior World Championships! Tough day for Charlie Beatty in men’s slopestyle, finishing in 11th. 

Alexandre Duchaine and Miha Fontaine win gold and silver in men’s aerials at the Junior Freestyle Ski & Snowboard World Championships!

I bought tickets to the 2020 ones too haha .
