They were in contention for a medal in the Women's 3m springboard synchro event, defending olympic bronze medalist from Rio. I hope Mexico can show right now a good form and get those spots we are missing, I seriously doubt we will get full team as our women's 10m synchro platform is a mistery and can't say if we have the level to get one of the 3 quotas available. In the men's 10m platform synchro we have some posibility.

Well that's tipically Aida. Since 2016 Rio Games she has been hit/miss and well most times missing than hitting. Unfortunately she is very inconsistent and her results since 2015 prove that. I think that she is still on the team because of her career achievements but I doubt she is our top 2 archer right now and could well be surpassed by any of the younger girls that are now pushing her. Alejandra Valencia is another issue, she looks to deliver under big pressure but just can't seal the deal in that last arrow

Lo de la situacion con la Federacion de Atletismo es indignante, segun lei han suspendido ya al que dirigia asi que al menos se quitan a ese personaje impresentable. Tengo confianza en esta mezcla de juventud y experiencia en el equipo femenil y confio que puedan conseguir el oro para seguir en progresion y logren la plaza olimpica hacia Tokio. The brazilian website gives mexicans 4 medals including a gold and bronze in Taekwondo.... Thanks but that wont happen, will be extremely hard to get one medal and given our two athletes belong to the heavyweight divisions with so many powerful rivals we will be lucky if we get a bronze, this time I'm not that positive with taekwondo given the poor results over this olympic cycle and the controversial management the sport is getting here. At least with a medal of any colour, Mexico can have the winning streak alive since the sport was included in Sydney taekwondo has given a medal in each games thus far. Medals in Athletics & archery, doesn't sound that out of reach of posibility

In the Women's 200m Breaststroke add South Africa's Tatjana Schoenmaker. She just posted a 2:20 at their Olympic Trials and is a current world championship medalist too. She could well win the gold there and a grab another medal in the 100m.

I think we can have a same situation like the last 2-3 Olympics, though this time the first medal could come in the first days as Taekwondo begins now on first week. So this could give momentum to the delegation since the pressure will be off. I don't see more than 1 medal this time in Taekwondo, maybe a Bronze from Briseida or Maria Espinoza if she wins the berth. Diving can give 1 or 2 Archery could give one in the Mixed Team or Individual (women's) Athletics can have a surprise medal in 20 km walk I have high hopes this time with the ladies. Weightlifting, a bronze could be in the mix and with no russians, few chinese and no north korean this time chances are very open for other countries. Potential surprises (like the bronze in boxing, modern pentathlon in Rio) Shooting, Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball/Baseball and Track Cycling My very positive scenario: 8 medals My very discrete scenario: 4 medals Either cases I don't see a gold medal I will be happy if we have as many top 8 and olympic diplomas as possible

Wise from her to switch from the 400m Hurdles since there are more chances for her in the flat distance given the incredible depth with Muhammad & Sydney McLaughlin at the hurdles. Though an american sweep at the olympics could be in the making if Little qualifies there with Dalilah & Sydney

Very happy for Donovan Carrillo, as a huge fan of figure skating for almost 30 years following this sport It will be a dream come true that a mexican skater gets to the Olympics, something I never thought would be posible given the dificult and almost non existen support for the sport in my country, Donovan is a rare talent we have and that has endured and kept going among his coach Gregorio Nunez, against all ods, not easy conditions and sometimes zero funding but their own. Now he has caused a huge impact with the news about his olympic spot for Beijing that all sport media is covering him so hopefully this will give exposure and boost figure skating a bit in Mexico and maybe start a trend were this sport can get the recognition it deserves, I know we can have many Donovan's in the near future. About the Team Competition at the Olympics my guess is that the nations that will qualify will be RUS, USA, CAN, JPN, ITA, CHN, they are a lock and the next ones will be GER, CZE, GEO and probably FRA that is under big decisions to made to even attempt the team competition since they wont have skaters in pairs at the individual discipline nor the place for a lady isn't that looking like to be achieved. If they go for the team competition this will force Papadakis/Cizeron to compete at the Rhythm Dance but last time at the 2018 Games the couple opted to not take part, luxury they wont have this time. So for me, France could well decline to even attempt qualifying to the team competition and that opens the chances for Hungary
