1. I'd say a 6 2. Surprises: - Nina Christen not performing, but two other shooters stepping in her shoes to defend her medals from Tokyo. Especially Chiara Leone who only qualified at the last moment by winning the European Championships after forgetting her shooting equipment at home and her parents had to drive 14 hours to Croatia to deliver it to her. - Julie Derron getting a perfect day to continue our amazing performances in the triathlon. - The Men's gymnastics team reaching the finals again and even individually performing really well. Heartbreaks: - Zero medals in Mountain Bike only for the second olympics since it's introduction. - All the fourth places. We had 9 (10 if you count losing the Judo bronze match), which is more than we got medals total. Especially the three fourth places in athletics hurt, since it's been so long since we've won a medal in athletics. - The Equestrian jumping team missing out on the finals, while being named as one of the favourites. At least Steve Guerdat redeemed himself in the individual event. - Hüberli/Brunner missing out on the Beachvolleyball finals after haven a match ball. - Morgane Métraux absolutely failing in the last day of golf, after being in first place at the end of days 2 and 3. 3. Our olympic committee set a goal of 7 medals, which was achieved. I just wished it would have been one or two more golds instead of all the bronze. 4. Not sure. Possibly shooting and maybe Modern Pentathlon, since we finally had two competitors again, after many olympics without one. 5. I'm not knowledgable enough to answer this

Men's Ice Hockey IIHF World Championship 2022

Calvin Thürkauf (HC Lugano) is also in the team. He was forgotten in the first tweet by the SIHF, but they corrected themselves since then. Sadly Josi decided against coming, because his wife is heavily pregnant. Completely understandable, of course, but man, it could have been such a good team with him. It still is a good team without him, but I do feel like the defence is a bit lacking. Really looking forward seeing this team play and maybe Fiala will also come later -

There are efforts to protecting it, and I think there are even some schools or at least kindergartens that are only in Romansh at the beginning. Graubünden is the largest canton by area. It's also the only canton with three languages (German, Italian and Romansh). Since it's almost entiery in the Alps, it's mostly famous for it's ski resorts. St. Mortitz, Arosa and Davos are some of the most famous ones. And yes, they did hold a vote on the Olympic bid, however the people voted against it.

Romansh is a romance language influenced by Swiss-German dialects. There are not a lot of Romansh speakers and it is only used in the canton (= state) of Graubünden. There are still some TV and radio stations that use it, but it is a dying language as in that region German or Italian and in the world English is a lot more useful.

No, I'm not doing anything there. Lausanne is a bit far away for me (and I know how ridiculous that sounds for an American ) I might watch some of the ice hockey event, if they get broadcasted somewhere.

Now that was a really crazy semi-final. But really happy that managed to get into the finals at home. Let's hope they can upset the Swedes aswell. Though rather unlikely -
Women's Ice Hockey IIHF Division III World Championship 2020
Ustatsch replied to Totallympics's topic in Ice Hockey
Grats to . Didn't think they would amount to anything this year after their 11:4 defeat against in the first round. And coming back to secure the 4th silver medal in a row. The three previous years they've always been denied promotion by a newcomer/comebacker. ( , , ) Was kinda hoping would continue that trend, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. :D -
Women's Ice Hockey IIHF Division III World Championship 2020
Ustatsch replied to Totallympics's topic in Ice Hockey
Actually has gotten silver in this division back in 2014 and since then, they've always gotten bronze. So, while it's definitely a really good performance this year, they weren't the worst team before either. -
Women's Ice Hockey IIHF Division III World Championship 2020
Ustatsch replied to Totallympics's topic in Ice Hockey
has promotion in their own hands now. However, if and manage to get 3 points against and respectively, we could have a four way tie. That would be fun. -
Woohoo, we won Was genuinley concerned, after they lost to Russia, that Germany would overtake them. It's good to see, that even this very young and inexperienced team could be succesful. It's gonna be interesting to see who of this team'll manage to get to the final WC team. Looking forward to it very much. :D

Men's Ice Hockey Tournament at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022
Ustatsch replied to hckošice's topic in Ice Hockey
as expected still not on the same level as the others. Surprised by though. Looks like they've made some progress. Even the game against was pretty close. Wonder if is weakened by the ongiong protests, though. vs is also a lot closer than last year. Maybe didn't really care last year, as they already had the promotion for sure. But this looks to be a pretty close group. Unless is still a lot stronger than the others. I don't expect much from , but who knows. -

Will be interesting to see, how good Kyrgyzstan is. This year at the World Championships they destroyed the UAE even without that inelegible player, that got them all the other games lost. But can they beat Luxembourg? Group 2 should be between Taiwan and Hong Kong. Don't know if Team Hong Kong is weakend by the unrest. I just hope the tournament goes over smoothly with Taiwan and Hong Kong playing in China. -
Well, looks like has also become a new member. In 2018/early 2019 China has also played a bunch of friendlies against 3rd-7th tier Swiss clubs. They've only won 6 of the 27 games they played. Here's the results: https://secureservercdn.net/198.71.233.5/44c.cc0.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/China-Men-Unofficial-Results-1.pdf I do think it was a mistake to allow China a free quota at the next Winter Olympics.

Always happy to see more countries embrace ice hockey.
