  1. Our group is getting very spicy. Thanks to Brazil we still have a chance even if we lose against Sweden today, which is expected. We obviously have to beat and to stay alive, the rest is up to the other teams. 6 points might be enough for us (or for any team in our group) to reach a OQT spot. I think top2 of the group will be and in the end as it was expected. The v match will decide the 3rd spot in the group.
  2. So we are back to being terrible. It was nice while it lasted...
  3. Okay, now please do waste this colossal chance for the Top8 and defeat . Portugal and Brazil won't be easy, but the hardest part is already done.
  4. I can't remember the last time we won such an important match after being down 6 goals. Maybe Iceland really is cursed against us, first the London2012 QF, then the EURO2020 playoff in football, and now this.
  5. Lol, what the hell did just happen? Iceland was winning this comfortably, that's a crazy final 10 minutes if I have ever seen one.
  6. That's because our biggest teams agenda is to win the Champions League, not to produce great Hungarian handball players. For some reason the idiots in Hungarian handball think that the Champions League is truly worth something in this sport, like in football. The reality is that the Olympic Games is what matters above all else in handball, if we are not there, we might as well shut down this sport instead of wasting money. Hungarian handball was stronger when Veszprém and Győr weren't competing for the men's and women's Champions League title. Right now we are declining like in the 70s and 80s in football, Hungarian handball will soon end up like Hungarian football at this rate.
  7. We have wasted a ton of money on this sport and we are still not even on par with a nation that has a much smaller population than us. What will it take to finally have world class Hungarian handball again? They got all the money in the world to deliver and at this point there might be a 16 years gap between two Hungarian male handball quotas. There are youth handball players who have never even seen the male Hungarian handball team at the Olympics in their life, it's been that fucking long. I don't know why I still bother to watch this...
  8. We are already crumbling against Iceland. Hungarian handball isn't winning any Olympic quotas for Paris2024, we are still shit.
  9. I think these should be the team categories: Best Men's Team in a Team Sport Best Women's Team in a Team Sport Best Team in an Individual Sport So the first two categories are for the usual team sports (are there any traditional team sports with mixed teams?), and the third category is for every other kind of team like pairs in tennis and table tennis, the relays in athletics, the two/four/eight boats in rowing and so on.

  11. I very rarely post here about current Hungarian music trends because I personally don't care that much, but something very interesting happened on the Hungarian music charts in the past few months: we got a hit song from a Hungarian artist that is mainly in English (mix of English and Hungarian). This is something that has almost never happened before, the few exceptions are Eurovision songs like the one that finished 5th in 2014. Maybe this song will start a trend, maybe not. But finally we got a proof that English language songs from Hungarian artists don't need Eurovision to become hits. To be fair, it comes from the most popular Hungarian artist of the past year, so it's not that surprising. (I don't want to reveal my personal feelings about the song, you will find out anyway based on whether or not I will send it to the next TISC)
  12. Another Hungarian newspaper reports that based on their sources "it's not the most famous Hungarian swimmer". So if that's true, it probably not Milák. In that case it might be Tamás Kenderesi. Or maybe Milák's friend, Richárd Márton, who won silver at the Euros this year behind Milák. He's also an Olympic athlete and showed improvement this year that might be because of doping.
  13. It was leaked that the Hungarian swimmers suspected of doping are competing in butterfly, one male, one female. The male swimmer is an Olympic athlete, the female swimmer is a Hungarian champion. Based on this I would say that the male swimmer is either Milák or Kenderesi. Shit will hit the fan before the end of the year, I doubt that they can hide it for long who are the suspected athletes. I am bracing for the worst...
  14. Let's just say for now that it might be for other reasons and give him the benefit of doubt, but it would be funny if it turns out that Russians can't stop doping even when they compete under our flag.
  15. The athletes that are under suspicion haven't been suspended yet, the investigation is still ongoing, they are free to compete for now. 2 swimmers and 1 wrestler. WADA noticed irregulates in their biological passport, we don't know when the investigation will be over.
  16. "Calm before the storm" in Hungary, three unnamed athletes are under the suspicion of doping, apparently they are swimmers and wrestlers. Sources say that one of them is a famous Hungarian Olympic swimmer. Now the guessing game begins until the athletes are suspended.... Hopefully not, you know, the most famous Hungarian Olympic swimmer, because that would be devastating for the entire Olympic team.

  18. I forgot to post my predictions yesterday. The Men's are more obvious, the winner should be Liu Shaoang, unless they don't want to give him due to him and his brother leaving Hungary at the end of the year, which I think would be bullshit. Milák and Szilágyi are the other members of the Top3. For the women, it's kinda hard to pick someone as the winner. Personally I would pick Rita Keszthelyi, but athletes in team sports almost never win. Keszthelyi might be the greatest Hungarian female water polo player ever, she deserves it. Kozák should be Top3 for that 100 hurdles ECh medal and Kovács is also an obvious choice for winning gold in gymnastics. I think the women's water polo team should win again, they had an amazing year, silver medal at the WCh. My two other picks for the Top3 would be the two football teams, Ferencváros for finally having a great year in the UEFA Europa League and Hungarian national football team for having some exceptional results in the UEFA Nations League.
  19. Let's see what are the Top5 for 1st Krisztina Egerszegi wins 200m backstroke in Seoul at the age of 14. A very highly regarded win due to her age, against a very dominant . 2nd Hungary v Soviet Union at the Melbourne water polo Olympic tournament, right after the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Remembered as a revenge against the Soviets, the match's most iconic moment is the "blood in the pool", Ervin Zádor comes out of the pool with blood pouring from above the eye after one of the Soviet players punched him. 3rd Not every memorable moment is positive. The most memorable loss in Hungarian sport (next to the 1954 World Cup final), the Hungarian women's handball team throws away a 6 goal lead against Denmark and loses the Sydney Olympic final. We might never have another chance like this one to win a gold in handball. 4th First ever Hungarian gold medal at the Winter Games, you probably all remember this one. 5th Hard to pick the fifth. I am going with "Gold from the 1st lane" as it's brought up regularly by Hungarian commentators. Attila Czene wins the 200 individual medley in Atlanta from the 1st lane, one of the most unexpected Hungarian gold medals in swimming.
