  1. What the hell, Attila Valter has the white jersey and he's 5th? I know that this won't last for long, but this is still huge for Hungarian road cycling.
  2. And yeah, this can get really ugly. There are already conspiracy theories out there that either Sidi or Péni put something in the other's drink that caused a positive test. Hopefully it's one of our other shooters, because if it's Sidi or Péni, who knows what will happen.
  3. Shit is about to hit the fan: one of the Hungarians had a positive doping test from the Delhi World Cup. We don't know yet who's the athlete, it can be anyone who participated there, including Peni and Sidi.
  4. I guess the Tokyo2020 organizers can learn from what happened in Budapest: the biggest enemies of the bubble are the athletes themselves. An emergency exit of one of the hotels was open, and a couple of foreign athletes at the Aquatics ECh used this opportunity to go outside of the bubble. The athletes got away with it with a warning, and now the exit is sealed off. Next time they will get more than just a warning. I am sure that some athletes will do the same thing in Tokyo, not everyone respects the rules.
  5. IOC member, Olympic champion swimmer Dániel Gyurta said in a new interview that there's no question about that the Olympic Games will be held this year.

  8. Just because a lot of people watch it when it's on air, it doesn't mean that they actually deeply care about it, to the point where they support it in the middle of a pandemic. My impression has always been that most people only tune in because it only happens every 4 years and because "it's tradition", but they can live without it, which is a big difference compared to big sport leagues like F1, Champions League, ATP/WTA tour, etc. Those are the kind of sport events people are attached to and "can't live without". I mean, for example, we don't have spectators for the Aquatics ECh, but we will have a full stadium for EURO2020, guess why. Even here where we a long tradition of supporting Olympic sports, the preferences of both the government and the citizens are clear. And apart from a very few exceptions, every country has fucked up the COVID crisis one way or another, so pretending like Japan should be above it is just silly, especially knowing that they have a high population density, which makes the situation really hard for them.
  9. Stop with this nonsense already. It's a worldwide pandemic and it's not even just the country of Japan, it's the entire world. We don't see polling outside of Japan, but I am sure that most people in the world want the Games to be cancelled. Outside of this forum I haven't seen or talked to a single person who wants the Games to happen this year. At the very least EURO2020 have many passionate fans because people feel far more emotionally attached to football than to the Games. IOC and Totallympics are pretty much alone in this. I think Tokyo2020 will likely happen, but the worst the COVID situation gets, the brand of the Summer Games will get damaged more and more, to the point where it can have negative effects on future Olympic Games.
  10. I have uploaded the speaker failure on OK because this is one for the history books, I doubt anything like this happened at the Aquatics ECh before: https://ok.ru/video/2147581889118
  11. Really embarrassing turn of events for the organizers: the underwater speakers didn't work properly, the duet tech final had to be stopped in the middle of the competition. The British pair was performing their tech program went it went all wrong. The event is postponed to Thursday. This is one of the biggest fuckups I have seen on an international sport event in Hungary...
  12. 13. The ECh program for our top swimmers: Kristóf Milák - 50, 100, 200 fly, 50, 100, 200, 400 free (+3 relays) Katinka Hosszú - 200, 400 medley, 200 fly Boglárka Kapás - 200 fly, 400 free, 400 medley László Cseh - 200 medley Dávid Verrasztó - 400 medley
  14. You joke now, but I am sure IOC would like to have an event like American Ninja Warrior at the Games if there was an opportunity for it. These weird sport competitions attract more viewers than most traditional sport events.
  15. I think this is an important first step for cancellation if it happens. The moment top athletes turn against the Games, it will be over, and Osaka is the most famous Japanese athlete right now. IOC will have to do everything they can to calm things down with her and other athletes who can potentially speak out against the Games.
  16. They shouldn't be punished if the worst happens, it's not their fault that we are still in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. And I can tell you that in almost all the countries a lot of people would be protesting against the Games. The only reason there aren't any protest against the Aquatics ECh here because people at this point have given up, they know that Orbán doesn't care about them, but I am sure the vast majority of Budapest wanted the event to be cancelled. I think we need to realize that if Tokyo2020 happens, it's going to be biggest achievement in the history of modern sport, we are asking a lot from Japan. And democratic countries like Japan doesn't have the luxury to just ignore public opinion like everything is fine. But I think they still got enough time to turn things around. Hopefully they will. IOC must be really concerned, Bach wanted the Games to be secure by May, and now he delayed his visit to June, they must know by now that this can go down to wire thanks to the current wave of COVID.
  17. From the little I have seen from it, it looks exciting and chaotic, which is probably what IOC wants more of at the Games.
  18. Yeah, at this rate Japan will lose its grip on COVID at the worst possible time. They need to figure something out quick because this can get ugly, public opinion on the Games has never been this terrible, both in Japan and internationally.
  19. Also, sports like triathlon and pentathlon can have two athletes per NOC because they only have two individual events, not four like Canoe Slalom. It really is that simple. You can bet that IOC likes slalom canoe much more than pentathlon, the former is far more entertaining to watch and I am sure its ratings during the Games are much higher.
  20. The sprint version is using the same venue as rowing, it will never be removed. And slalom canoe is visually interesting, and it's actually gaining events with the extreme slalom. There's no reason to think that it's in any danger, a discipline was never removed for being too European, and it never will.
  21. Thanks, I thought that they simply use the World Cup ranking.
  22. Nvm, I think I have figured it out: 1. Tashkenbaeva 40p (4) 2. Vedeneeva 36p (1) 3. Pigniczki 32p (2) --- 4. Oiwa 28p (2) 5. Kita 16p (2)
  23. Does anyone know what are the current standings for the Olympic qualification before the last event? According to the Hungarian media the Hungarian gymnast is in a qualifying position for now, but I couldn't find anything beyond that.
  24. Good start from Berecz, I hope he can keep this up just to gain more confidence for the Olympics.
  25. Szőke Alex kijutott az Olimpiára birkózásban.
