Yikes, another controversy in Hungary after the shooting incidents. The women's foil team is revolting against that the people in charge choose Aida Mohamed as the 4th team member instead of Dóra Lupkovics, because Lupkovics was part of the team that qualified, not Mohamed. The issue here is that Mohamed is still the second best Hungarian in women's foil on the world ranking, she's 29th, while Lupkovics is 76th.

Nice win against the Netherlands, the QF should be almost certainly secured now. But we need to play better if we want to qualify.

The Dutch are in big trouble, they will have to beat us tomorrow, otherwise they are likely out.

The Hungarian Olympic Trials will start tomorrow. Out of the 17 spots for Hungary, only 4 are already decided: Men's C2 1000m - Balázs Adolf, Dániel Fejes Women's C2 500m - Virág Balla, Kincső Takács For the rest of the events, apart from K4, here are the scheduled finals: May 28 17:25 Women's K1 500m May 29 17:05 Men's K1 200m 17:15 Women's K2 500m 17:25 Men's K1 1000m 17:35 Women's C1 200m May 30 15:15 Men's K2 1000m 15:35 Women's K1 200m We have to fill boats in Men's K2 1000m, Men's K4 500m, Women's K1 200m, Women's K1 500m, Women's K4 500m, Women's C1 200m. Don't ask me what the actual process is here because I have no idea, I couldn't find anything. My guess is that the winners of these races will qualify for Tokyo and then we will fill the K4 boats. Women's K1 500m will be a bloodbath, it won't be easy for Kozák to qualify for the third time in this event.

Watching this v match, I think it's safe to say that we won't have much a chance against either of these teams in the QFs (if we will qualify for the QFs). Both US and France look good for the quotas.

Continuing the previous discussion, I wanted to see how is doing compared to Rio. I am ignoring athletics and swimming for now, and some other disciplines where we don't have any quotas yet, but will likely qualify some athletes later (badminton, judo, tennis, triathlon). So overall we are losing quotas in some individual sports, but we returned in women's handball and that will help us a lot to avoid having the smallest Hungarian Olympic team in recent years. Which means that we will have around 150-160 athlete quotas in the end. We are losing two disciplines, diving and weightlifting, but gaining four, canoe slalom, cycling road, handball and taekwondo. And maybe even five with rhythmic gymnastics.

@Benolympique FYI, has one less quotas, 94, we have 17 canoe sprint quotas, not 18.

I am expecting the same thing that happened to us in mixed curling. If the top tier basketball nations will take it seriously now that it's an Olympic event, just like how the top tier curling nations did in mixed doubles once it was at the Games, we won't have much a chance to qualify.

I think and already won the two quotas in men's 10m air pistol. The Russians can only take one quota and the other athletes in the final aren't eligible. Edit: Oh, ffs, only one quota in this event.

Well, the Belgian from Relay 2 is 6th in the overall live ranking, so that must count in the competition... right?

Hm, I don't see any difference for us. Poland on the other hand is out of the final, Belgium will have a chance for a quota. So 5 countries are up for 2 spots:

Róbert Kasza won't be at the World Championships because of a leg injury, that's probably the end of his career.

Csaba Sós confirmed it after the ECh that the target for Hungary in Tokyo is still 1 gold and another 2 or 3 medals. Probably 1 gold + 1 medal from Milák and another 1 or 2 medals from Hosszú, Kapás and/or Kenderesi.
