  1. That's it. Many lost Hungarian quotas recently... For some reason we just can't qualify in new Olympic events.
  2. What a farce. Tadissi has to win to qualify, I don't have much hope left.
  3. Second 0-0 draw, and I wouldn't be surprised if the next men's match will also be a 0-0 as that would likely be beneficial for both of them.
  4. This is why this round robin is extremely stupid. Both and knew that a 0-0 almost certainly qualifies them, and guess what, it's a 0-0 draw.
  5. Quota eligible athletes qualified for the final Pigniczki Verdes Berezina Garcia Kolosov Jalilova Bogdanova Moustafaeva Stojanov Kelaiditi
  6. Tadissi will have to beat again, otherwise it's another wasted Hungarian quota chance in the new Olympic events...
  7. Hm, didn't he gain 220 points here? (720 points for the 5th place, replacing his worst score on the WR, 500 points) He was more than 220 points behind the Korean and the Russian.
  8. Wait, if 0-0 draw is possible in kumite, doesn't that give a ton of advantage to the athletes of the last match, depending on how the previous matches went? Like, what's stopping them to have a friendly 0-0 if that's the only outcome where they both qualify?
  9. in, out in women's 78kg and in, out in men's 100kg. Women's 78kg Men's 100kg
  10. ofc I misread that and for a split second thought that it's "rule hentai".
  11. This round robin system seems cruel to me. These athletes already had many matches today, and now each will fight 3 more just to eliminate 1 out of the 4.
  12. Wtf is that almost 1 hour delay in the schedule. What is this, the Hungarian railway?
  13. Our best bets are Szilágyi and Szatmári in men's sabre, Márton and Pusztai in women's sabre, and Siklósi in men's epée. All 5 of them are capable to take the gold. I think this might be the strongest Hungarian fencing team that we had in a long time, one reigning Olympic champion (Szilágyi), one reigning World champion (Siklósi), a young former World champion (Szatmári), and two very talented girls in women's sabre. But I still have a bad feeling that we won't win any gold medals in fencing, it might be karma for having an unexpectedly amazing Games in Rio with a relatively old team who were mostly past their prime. Epée Foil Sabre These are all the Top3s on the world ranking, I didn't see any good reason to bet against any of these teams.
  14. Here's the Hungarian EURO2020 song. As far as Hungarian "sport songs" go for this summer, I prefer our Tokyo2020 song.
  15. How does the final pool work? Will they bring their previous matches with them (for example, and starting with 1-0, while the two rep winners with 0-1), or will everyone have 0 wins and 0 losses?
  16. I think both are. It honestly would make just as much sense to avoid v and v in a draw as FIFA/UEFA tends to avoid other matches that are difficult for the organizers.
  17. Wow, I knew that there was a chance, but I still didn't anticipate Tadissi going this far because it looked crazy competitive. This must be our big chance to have a Hungarian quota in karate, I hope he will qualify now.
  18. v at a big tournament? Do you want to start WW3? The amount of literal buses that would be set on fire would be quite high.
  19. Oh fuck, I am not sure why I remembered that you are Serbian without reading your nationality again. Maybe it's because I saw a red uniform in your avatar, and my brain went "plain red is more of a Serbian color, Croats have the checkered, therefore this user is Serbian".
  20. Oh, okay, for some reason I didn't see Majdov when I looked up 90kg again. I guess you get 4 world quotas, and I am not sure if you have any chances to get the +1 European continental quota.
  21. I had to double check what's going on: I think Aleksandar Kukolj now has qualified in two events, he has a world quota in men's 100kg and a continental quota in men's 90kg.
  22. Damn, Kukolj is in the men's 100kg final from the 54th place on the world ranking. This doesn't just mean a WCh medal for , but also a new world quota for them.
  23. Hold on, how can we surprise, by at least scoring one goal in our three matches? I mean, what I saw against and wasn't all that promising. The fact is that there just aren't any great replacements for Szoboszlai and Kalmár. Our best chance is to park the bus, but we aren't really known for our great defense. We qualified because we had a surprisingly strong midfield, but that's mostly gone because of the injuries.
  24. We aren't taking steps back, Hungarian society isn't going back, the politicians are adapting to their voters, the people living outside of Budapest have always been more conservative than what you would expect from an EU member state. I mean, currently around 65% of active Hungarian voters are supporting right-wing parties, the only reason Orbán isn't winning next year's election easily is because we have a large number of conservatives who are supporting the right-wing opposition party.
  25. We are one win away from gaining one more world quota, Cirjenics has to defeat the Mongolian, otherwise he will very likely take the Hungarian continental quota and we will have 7 athletes in judo. In case he wins, I am not sure if the next best Hungarian is good enough for the continental. Miklós Ungvári has 1884 points, that might be right on the border of the European CQs.
