  1. The most terrifying thing about this match is that we haven't been tested by a top tier team since the 2018 World Cup qualifiers (where Portugal beat us quite easily both times), Croatia at the EURO2020 qualifiers wasn't on the same level as our group rivals here. We are unbeaten for many matches now, but I hope no one has any false sense of security, or any delusions about what will most likely happen today.
  2. It's a shame that the EURO2020 base camp of Portugal is in Budapest, our only chance for a victory was that they accidentally turn up in Bucharest instead of Budapest and have to forfeit the match.
  3. Live stream of the Hungarian ultras marching to the stadium from Heroes Square: https://www.facebook.com/hvghu/videos/281602420415336/
  4. Well, this mistake was inevitable, wasn't it?
  5. This may be the first time ever that a country wins two matches in less than 5 hours at the EUROs.
  6. Will this be the repeat of the v World Cup qualifier with the Polish stepping up their game when they finally realize that the match is kinda important?
  7. I think? I must say that everything happened very quickly, so there must some really strong evidence supporting Péni's case. Sidi will obviously not let this go and will go to court, but that process will probably take more time. I am not entire sure what happens if somehow Sidi proves after the Games that he didn't do anything. Maybe IOC will take away Péni's results in that case? The potential of that will likely linger during and after Games.
  8. Is this the last individual event where athletes can directly qualify for the Games? It sure is for Hungarians. The long process of Olympic qualification is nearing its conclusion. Edit: Nope, it's not, I just saw that there's the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup one week later.
  9. The Hungarian team: Veronika Major - women's 10m air pistol, women's 25m pistol Eszter Mészáros - women's 10m air rifle, women's 50m rifle 3 positions, mixed 10m air rifle team Zalán Pekler - men's 10m air file, men's 50m rifle 3 positions István Péni - men's 10m air file, men's 50m rifle 3 positions, mixed 10m air rifle team As it was expected, Péter Sidi is out of the Olympic team.
  10. So far it feels like home-field advantage is almost nonexistent at this EURO.
  11. Orbán has done it again, his goal was to fracture the Hungarian opposition before the next election, and it looks like the pedophile/LGBT law was perfect for that. The left-wing opposition parties are boycotting the vote on the law, while the right-wing opposition party will vote in favor of the law. We will see in the near future if this will be enough kill the unity of the opposition, right now many progressives are obviously extremely pissed. I would say that things will settle down if in the opposition primary the left-wing will win, but right now polls show that the leader of the right-wing opposition party is the most liked prime minister candidate. But honestly, if this is enough to kill the united opposition, they really shouldn't win the next election, because it shows that they still don't understand culture of the country outside of Budapest and aren't fit to represent the entire nation.
Rio Tokyo Diff Athletics Marathon/RW 8 2 -6 Badminton 1 2 +1 Boxing 2 1 -1 Canoe Slalom - 1 +1 Canoe Sprint 15 17 +2 Cycling Mountain Bike 1 2 +1 Cycling Road - 1 +1 Diving 1 - -1 Fencing 9 10 +1 Gymnastics Artistic 2 1 -1 Gymnastics Rhythmic - 1 +1 Handball - 14 +14 Judo 8 7 -1 Karate - 1 +1 Modern Pentathlon 4 4 Rowing 3 1 -2 Sailing 5 4 -1 Shooting 8 4 -4 Swimming Marathon 3 1 -2 Table Tennis 3 5 +2 Taekwondo - 1 +1 Tennis 2 3 +1 Triathlon 4 4 Water Polo 26 24 -2 Weightlifting 1 - -1 Wrestling 8 6 -2 114 117 +3 Athletics 11 6 -5 Swimming 34 19 -15 159 142 -17
  13. I always find it fascinating when nations start to demand a change in how other countries call them. It sure would be hilarious if we would start demanding that from now on in every language people should call us "Magyars" instead of some of version of "Hungarian".
  14. Or maybe I am wrong and we can already calculate the reallocation. Maybe @Vojthas can shed some light on what's official and what's not right now. As far as the Hungarian Olympic Committee is concerned, they confirmed that 5(!) male Hungarian pentathletes are eligible for Tokyo. Madness. Good luck for our coach to choose two.
  15. @Benolympique As for the ranking quotas, I would say this: Men's (9 quotas) +1 +1 +1 +1 Women's (8 quotas) +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 These are the "official quotas" as these countries are in the Top8/Top9 among the eligible athletes. Which means that we are missing 5 male and 3+1 female quotas (and there are also 2-2 tripartite quotas). Those 5 male and 4 female quotas will be officially given to other countries in two weeks, the reallocation period ends on June 29.
  16. Yep, that's for sure. The ranking quotas on the other hand can be messy with all the reallocations, so we will probably have to wait a few weeks for all the countries with more than 2 qualified athletes to decide.
  17. Top9 quota eligible athletes on the men's ranking: Liebig Hamed Palazkov Toolis M. Dogue Jung Tymoshchenko Kuf Seo So has 4, has 3, has 3, has 3. Which means 5 quota reallocations once these countries decide which quotas they will reject.
  18. Quotas from the World Championships: +1 +1 Lifanov already had a quota, so the third WCh quota will get added to the Olympic ranking quotas.
  19. Marosi Ádám megszerezte a második magyar férfi kvótát öttusában, méghozzá nem is akárhogy, egy VB arannyal! 20. Marosi! Just amazing, World champion again after 12 years. What a great weekend for us, I hope that we can turn these forms into at least one medal in Tokyo.
  21. We are getting... Triathlon +4 (I think?) Tennis +3 Pentathlon +2 Judo +7 And we also won +1 in karate and RG.
  22. It would still ensure that a team almost certainly can't advance to the next round with 3 draws. The top teams are already in an easy position, with only 2 teams advancing from a group at least they can't get away with not beating any of their second/third tier opponents, unlike Portugal in 2016.
  23. This is all the matches so far in a nutshell. I wonder if UEFA will ever make some chances, because having a group stage with 24 teams where 16 of them qualifies to the next round is just awful. There isn't any sense of urgency from many teams because they know they will most likely make it to the next round no matter what. And all of this is because 24 is a terrible number for this kind of a football tournament. The solution to this will probably be that UEFA will expand the EUROs to 32 teams in the future.
  24. But does that even count as an EURO2020 match? I am joking and both teams have earned their place here, but v might be the least interesting matchup in the history of this tournament.
  25. So far this tournament is really predictable (with one very unfortunate exception), the top teams aren't making any early mistakes. Maybe the Dutch will be the first ones to lose points, we are due for an upset.
