With both Australia and Samoa failing to reach the cup quarterfinals, South Africa has moved into the final Olympic quota position. Ireland and the United States did enough to keep pace while Fiji is getting closer to solidifying their spot to the games. The fight for the final core team spot is interesting as Spain leapfrogged Uruguay while Kenya lost ground overall.

Canada has been mathematically eliminated since the end of the last event. I'll give the scenarios at the end of this event. Realistically speaking, Fiji/Great Britain need to cut into Ireland's lead this tournament to have a chance. A semi-final appearance will help quite a bit, but so would a 5th place finish if Ireland finishes 8th again.
