    Yeah, these are the 40 or so Russian & BLR athletes who made up the old World Cup, IBU & FISA teams. I guess the University & Club runners now have another competition.

    It has obviously changed from the old Russian Cup, is now much more an elite competition than a regional or club competition it was before.

    Just noticed that the Belarussian names now are back to the Russian spelling not the беларуская мова one they have been using for the last 15 years or so.

    Just started off watching this. Can confirm that just as in the Good Old Days, are competing as a Region - as always, the Russians compete for regional or city teams like Moscow, St Petersburg, Khanty-Mansiisk etc.

    I notice on YouTube that we are now going to be treated to an official FIL pre-game show! In fact two! I’m guessing some sort of coverage of the Nations Cup, plus celebrity interviews (well, to the extent that those luge riders who haven’t done TV reality shows are celebrities).

    I remember thinking that a Gössner/Neuner team could have been the world’s best Team Sprint combination & probably full relay 3&4 as well.

    Going back some time, I remember Miriam Gossner & Katja Wilhelm who did the same thing in their first year post-transfer. Wilhem’s shooting got better, but Gossner never did.

    It’s definitely going to keep the sprint races exciting. She would have been second with 3/5! So my fact checkers are claiming that as Mostly True.
