    I do not take Gracenote very seriously :P I think McIntosh will very likely win at least three golds. Deguchi, Arop, Kim and Lepage are all contenders for gold, but they are far from locks. In general Canada can be pretty hard to predict because we have a lot of depth, but other than McIntosh we don't have any heavy favorites.

    I mean, not really, that's still in France. Just a bit of an oddity of having the African qualifier being held in Africa but within a European NOC.

    It's really nice to see men's artistic swimming developing well. It's a beautiful sport, and in my opinion the combination of the better judging system that was recently implemented and the development of men's artistic swimming ensure the sport will stay in the Olympics for a long time.

    Canada has a shot, but it's still going to be a hard shot. They did what they had to do so far, but it's just three out of six routines.

    Yes it does. The acrobatic routine is also being added to the Olympics in 2024, so the team event will have three phases instead of two.

    I think we don't need to assume at this point, Russia is banned in team events, there is no more qualification opportunities in artistic swimming and the IOC has been very clear there wouldn't be "make up" qualification opportunities for Russia. So for the first time since 1996 we'll have Olympic gold medalists in artistic swimming who aren't from Russia or ROC.

    appears all but certain to miss the final :O And will make the final!

    I lived out East back then, only ended up seeing one match (the - Ro16 that was played in driving rain in Moncton). It was a great experience though, honestly seeing an event as big as the WWC in was super special.

    I’m assuming the tickets will be extremely expensive xD I’m going to try to get both team Canada games in Vancouver along with maybe a couple games in Seattle too.

    Does anybody know how the quotas are decided? Is it based on sum of the final scores from the three events, the qualification scores, or the qualification and the final scores? If you don't make a final do you just get a zero?

    Risk of infection isn’t why they backed out, it’s because 2021/22 was a compressed schedule due to COVID and because China had travel restrictions that could have left players stranded there for weeks if they tested positive.

    I thought the law only affected national teams, not individual athletes.

    This is real nonsense. I could make an argument for ROC being first, fourth or disqualified. Makes no sense at all for them to be third.

    It’s actually in the rules that athletes who get a relocated medal can request a medal ceremony at the next Olympics. So yes.

    Why do judges hate Ayumu so much? He reasonably could have three Olympic golds at this point (him not winning in 2014 and 2018 was defensible, but there was an argument for him to win both times), and he almost got robbed in Beijing.
