    Well that was unexpected gold for Mitchell. Second ever gold medal for Canada in cycling, both in the women’s sprint. What’s crazy about this is that Mitchell is obviously still a work in progress, her tactics are still just not really there.

    Also, gotta say, talk about a way for Hamedi to completely throw away what would have been 's first ever Olympic gold, especially given this was likely to literally be a once in a lifetime chance for him.

    I think most Canadians have no idea who he is, but the athletics fans in Canada like him. Generally Canadians like athletes who "talk truth to power".

    This is one of those 4th that actually feels like a win. TBH just making the finals was mission accomplished.

    Also, trivia time: the women's 4x400m relay is the first ever athletics relay with eight gold medalists (since the rule used to be that you could only sub two runners).

    That actually describes what I appreciate about kata pretty well - it's very different from anything else at the Olympics and it's the most pure form of marital arts competition.

    Canada ends up being 0-5 in wrestling. Literally zero wins in wrestling. Pathetic. Everyone at wrestling Canada should be fired.
