  1. I don't get the impression the men's 4x200m will be a priority, the 4x100 free and the medley relay will likely get more attention (the free because it can realistically make the final, the medley relay since it's on the last day and people usually really like competing it). The 4x200m is the only realistic way for a lot of the male swimmers to make the team so I can def see why Knox and Liendo, who will both have a decent number of swims, are happy to leave those spots to someone else.
  2. Nice, this really opens the door for a couple of their teamates to make the team!
  3. Which tbf is already an improvement than it was before. Now if you are in the top 2 at trials and you've reached the OQT at any point in the qualification window your qualification is automatic (though it puts you at fifth priority rather than first priority, but that only matters if Canada somehow is over the allowable per country quota which seems... unlikely to ever happen). But swimmers do need to finish in the top 2 in trials. Does create an interesting situation where anyone who finished top 2 in trials but doesn't have the time can try to achieve it until June 23rd. Also, the qualification document from Swimming Canada is quite clear that priority 5 swimmers *shall* be nominated, not *may* be nominated. The full document, in case anyone else is interested in reading it: https://www.swimming.ca/content/uploads/2023/05/2024-Olympic-Games-Pool-Swimming-final-April-21-20231.pdf Also looks like swimming Canada is intending to accept OCT invitations for trial winners.
  4. Unless someone emerges in the next two years (which is very possible) goaltending will be Canada's biggest (only?) weakness in 2026.
  5. And in 2008 she had a tripartite invite
  6. Pretty meh day? All the qualifiers today are virtualy guaranteed to swim in other events.
  7. I feel like the televote is quite tainted by how many points and got for political reasons tbh
  8. Glad didn’t win, it’s just not a good song. Would have liked to win, but I did really enjoy ‘s song, especially the staging. Satisfied with the winner.
  9. Gonna shout out Nemo for notching a win for the gender non-conformists and the embys!
  10. First past the post :P
  11. You wanted to win?
  12. She’s not , that’s why she can speak French :P
  13. Natasha St-Pierre!!!!!!!!!!
  14. This Abba segment is very lame
  15. Sent 20 votes to from the / rest of the world.
  16. Israel competes as a European nation in basically all sports / competitions because too many countries in Asia object to their existence.
  17. Objectively the funniest result is Israel winning the televote in a rout but narrowly finishing second due to the jury vote. I really want this to happen just to I can cross reference people’s take on the jury this year and last year.
  18. Netanyahou Is not competing.
  19. Ya I’m always afraid when it pops up. This and the athlete death threads are very depressing.
  20. Blazing Saddle did *not* take place in South Carolina xD
  21. I honestly don’t think Greco Roman wrestling deserves to continue as an Olympic sport under the current rules.
  22. I used to think the USA and Canada had problems with racism, but then I interacted with Europeans and now I’m really not so sure.
  23. A playoff between the two bronze medal winners.
