  1. Lets calm down a bit, Wallberg has a grand total of zero world cup wins, he has a long ways to go :P That being said, in moguls it's pretty common for an Olympic gold to be the start of a quad of dominance rather than the culmination of such.
  2. Actually if we're going to talk about the judging, my question is how the heck did Ikuma Horishima finish third?
  3. Disaster for Canada. Our best chance for a gold medal is lost. Incredibly disappointing that Kingsbury will only have one Olympic gold medal in his career, really doesn't reflect the career he's had and continues to have.
  4. Watching does not fill me with confidence…
  5. OBS commentator: "it's not over" Time clock showing +0.7: "ya, it's pretty over"
  6. All three Canadians through to the quarterfinals in the short track women's 500m.
  7. Exciting race, but in the end I think this podium really represents who was the strongest this season.
  8. I duno, as a neutral this is awesome entertainment.
  9. Pretty bullish about the USA’s chance in the women’s skiathlon.
  10. This just feels like a real off game from Homan. Happens to everyone, it’s just really hard to watch when the opposition is playing almost perfectly.
  11. At the half is shellacking in mixed doubles. de Val is curling 100%, Homan is curling… much less than that.
  12. Homan has completely lost her touch with draws while de Val is curling literally 100%. This is painful.
  13. What’s the point of holding a qualification round when there are only 53 jumpers?
  14. Y'all are really due for Filip Zubčić to randomly rediscover his form from last year to win the GS.
  15. I know, I live in the US so I'm mostly streaming using Peacock. That's where I was watching the trial round.
  16. Ya it... takes a while to accept the scoring system. There's very few formal rules to how the scoring works because culturally that's how those sports evolved, there's been attempts to formalize it and it's always universally panned by the athletes. Each judge and judging panels have their own criteria, too, so there is inconsistencies from competition to competition (at the Olympics in snowboarding they seem to always heavily reward weird, rarely used lines), and feedback from the athletes themselves also affect that. But general rules is that the hardest run that looked easy and smooth wins. The big complication that is hard to wrap your head around even after watching a while is that "hardest" doesn't always means most spins or flips.
  17. I’d say it’s a pretty good result, especially after a really rough first run.
  18. I get the sneaking suspicion that the Canadian team handled the pandemic better than anybody else. Apparently every player worked super hard on their individual weaknesses during lockdown and came back better than before to the team’s first post-pandemic training camp. I doubt most other teams had the resources to do that.
  19. For anyone just checking out the results: don't be fooled by the low score, Kamilla Kozuback isn't another Elizabeth Swaney. She did actual tricks and is legit.
