  1. When do you think will host the World Alpine Skiing championships?
  2. Freeriding is now officially an FIS discipline (interestingly, freeriding will be the first FIS discipline that has events for both skiing and snowboarding). I think it's pretty clear they will push for it to join the Olympics.
  3. Makes sense, they were meant to host 2021 before COVID.
  4. I missed this, *Sun Valley* is hosting the world cup finals? Wow. Might have to attend that.
  5. Isn't it a bit late to cheer for the Stars?
  6. I think even the Squash folks were shocked their sport was included in the Olympics
  7. He has literally the worst clay court record of any ATP players (with at least 50 games) going back to at least 1990. Even if he wanted to go he, frankly, shouldn’t be selected by his federation anyway.
  8. My son *and* a generic son? xD
  9. I don't know, and I don't think there is a way to know without going through all 13 tournaments (by my count) he's played since his injury and counting them. There is a nine month limit (which isn't an issue here) and a nine tournament limit, but the nine tournament limit only applies for tournaments entered using the protected ranking, wild cards and direct entry doesn't count. There is no limit to how many athletes qualify through PR. It counts the same as a regular ranking, but the "real" ranking holds the tie breaker.
  10. Looking into it a bit more, a protected ranking must be valid as of June 27th to be used for Olympic qualification. I know Shapovalov used a protected ranking to qualify for the French Open, but I'm not sure when it expires. Edit: based on my understanding of the rules if Shapovalov hasn't used eight or more protected ranking entries since coming back from injury then he is allowed to use a protected ranking to qualify for the Olympics.
  11. He's currently 72nd on the list given the four per country max and the fact Zhang is qualified form the Asian Games (which takes priority over the world ranking when it comes to allocating quotas to countries). If he wins his next match he'll be 62nd (or 63rd if Kovalík goes further than him), which should be safe. None of this accounts for protected rankings, which can be used to qualify for the Olympics.
  12. Apparently Michele Esercitato defeated Tugrul Ozer at Olympic trials.
  13. Trump has been found guilty on all counts in the NY trial.
  14. Going to mostly limit this to the Olympics. Expand the Summer Olympics to three weeks to allow for more athletes / sports / events without balloning costs. Specifically, have a rotation of which athletes are there. I like the idea of having one week tentpolled by swimming, one week tentpolled by Gymnastics and one week tentpolled by Athletics. Eliminate Modern Pentathlon from the Olympics Expand the athlete quota for the Winter Olympics to around 3,500, reverse athlete quota cuts and add some new non-traditional sports (especially ice climbing, cross country running, cyclocross and snow volleyball) to add appeal for more non-traditional winter sports countries. Obviously, lets also expand the program for the Winter Olympics to include things like freeride, rail jam and a team moguls event :D And the big one: Create a "mind and skill sport" Olympic games, name still a work in progress. Would be a home for stuff like e-sports, chess, go, bowling, cue sports, perhaps even motorsports.
  15. Brown is another -born athlete, it's certainly becoming more of a trend for those athletes to compete for other countries.
  16. Even if they have already received their medal, would still be nice to have every medalist on the podium
  17. Tatiana Weston-Webb put down a pretty great 10.0 wave in the semis of the Thaiti Pro today.
  18. You're a wizzard I swear xD
  19. That's a World Aquatic consideration, not a consideration for the French NOC. Maybe there shouldn't be host nation spots in synchro, but those are the only host spots available in diving so.
  20. It's the best team France can put together, so from their point of view why not take the free quotas? Either way, I know they won't be competitive at all but it's still cool to see Gary Hunt make his Olympic debut given how great of a high diving career he's had.
  21. Ya, already has a full team on the women's side so they can't qualify any individuals.
  22. Join Aleah Finnegan and Levi Ruivivar, both also from the USA, on the women's team.
