  1. Orangehair has predicted boycotts and cancelations basically every single Olympics.
  2. I don't doubt is doing their best, but (or and for that matter) should simply not be allowed to be in the same group in this competition in years where Olympic qualification is on the line.
  3. This is what the FIS gets for getting rid of Lake Louise :P
  4. I'm very sad about Lake Louise being removed from the calendar, but I do like Tremblant as a venue.
  5. True. I would be happier about it if it wasn't the third Winter Olympics out of four hosted in the Alps (i.e. if Stockholm had gotten 2030). We are way overdue to go back to the Alps, but having Milan, Nice and Switzerland back to back only broken up by SLC seems like a bit much.
  6. Not hosting in Stockholm in 2030 feels like a real missed opportunity. The French bid winning 2030 feels very weird. I'm sure they will be perfectly good games. Switzerland being targeted for 2038 this far out also feels a bit weird. I really hate how little transparancy this process has.
  7. May have an outside shot at getting citizenship.
  8. Would be insane for this information to leak this early. Usually if there is a leak it happens at the very last minute.
  9. It honnestly feels more like a way to let players skip the Olympics with everyone saving face than anything else.
  10. I, for one, am not upset that gets to host the least important (for swimming anyway) World Aquatics Championships ever.
  11. Ya, the race proper was probably the best race of the season. I'm very surprised.
  12. There was certainly a lot of luck involved there re: the Olympic final. But ya, it's not been a promissing season so far.
  13. Oh over a distance longer than SIX (abridged because it's a mass start) LAPS maybe interesting tactics could come into play. There was actually an arm sling this week-end, but that was because someone missed the proper handover (a push is just more effective).
  14. Ya, the relay works great in short track (the short track relays are among my favourite Olympic events), but long track is both too high speed and has too long of a straightaway to make relay exchanges work well. I'm not surprised inline relays work fine, given the smaller track and speeds more comparable to short track.
  15. I mean ya, it's just the team pursuit but for sprinters. I don't see anything wrong with the two events being very similar.
  16. Generally there just should not be relay events in long track. The team pursuit (and team sprint, as much as people here dislike it :P ) works as a model for a team event in speed skating. A relay does not.
  17. That atrocious mixed relay might be the single worse attempt at a mixed gendered team event I have ever seen at a senior top level event, and the bar is extremely low. (The only thing worse I've ever seen is a mixed gendered / mixed weapon fencing team event, but it wasn't at this high a level of competition)
  18. I really dislike the new Davis and BJK Cup formats, makes these wins feel like a real anticlimax. Still, amazing to see Canada win both these tournaments, would have been completely unthinkable when I first started following Tennis.
  19. I will confess to having literally never heard about Stakusic before yesterday.
  20. They'll really do anything to never hold this sport outside again.
  21. The esports community has also completely ignored this event. Liquipedia (the biggest results aggregator for tournament results) describes the Pan-am games tournament as a tier four tournament, which is the lowest tier they assign. It means a minor tournament, usually held online, without any top team presents.
  22. Let me tell you about all the times (which is bigger and more populated than two EU countries) didn’t get to send any athletes to the Olympics…
  23. Would you like the results to be taken after the first round?
