Qualification Tracker

Test

  1. Yup, the national federation is trash. The more time goes on the more I think Kaillie Humphries was completly justified in jumping ship. The Calgary track shutting down is going to cause huge long term damage too. Whistler is not nearly as accessible.
  2. Not sure how pursuing gender equality is "bullshit". There has been a lot of negativity around agenda 2020. Certainly a lot of sport programs got cut to the bone, or even further, sports like wrestling and ski jumping are really suffering from too few quotas for instance. The obsession with mixed events is a little odd. And the general worship of the 10,500/2,900 athlete limit is a problem. But there has been a lot of positives too. Having a more gender balance program is extremely positive. And the modernization of the program has mostly been a good thing, while I am against the elimination of some traditional events and some of the aditions that have come in, it's pretty clear that the Olympics needed to start adding sports like skateboarding and cricket to stay relevant. And of course reducing cost is necessary for the survival of the Olympics. But yes, we need people who are much more in touch with reality than the Olympic gold medalist from 1976.
  3. A country can only qualify one gymnast per gender across all aparatus through the world cup, so this is correct.
  4. having it's own Olympic team will be a dream come true :D
  5. Ya know, Canada can just make this happen by giving the the Haudenosaunee a square kilometre of land in the middle of nowhere and letting them declare sovreignty over it (and nudging the rest of the world to accept them as an independent nation).
  6. One of the world feed commentator seemed so disappointment there wouldn't be a swim-off in the 800m free xD
  7. It will be better when it's in the Olympics :D
  8. I am once again asking the IOC to add the team sprint in the Olympic program.
  9. They have improved a lot, will be exciting to see what they can do this summer.
  10. Hard to tell, as far as I know nobody can find their selection criteria. South Africa does have a history of rejecting continental team quota, Tokyo was sort of an exception to that.
  11. All Canada needs to do is wait for to decline the quota :P (Do we know what's up with whether or not South Africa will accept the quota?)
  12. Happy Valentine's Day to all my fellow divorcé(e)s out there xD
  13. I’m parodying one of our dear user who always comes up with creative reasons for why Olympics would be cancelled or boycotted.
  14. That's because Australians are invading Westerner Canada resort towns at the moment, and we just want them to go back home and stop stealing jobs from the traditional demographic that takes low paying jobs out West, Atlantic Canadians. We need to build a wall on our Western border to keep the wallabies out, and we'll get the kiwis to pay for it. Go to a ski resort in Banff, Canmore, Kelowna or Kamloops and all you hear are Australian accents. Cafes there sell foreign atrocities like flat whites and "brekkie sandwitches" and you're liable to have a conversation about how Australia beat India in the Cricket world cup on the chairlift (I really did have a conversation about the last Cricket world cup final with someone from Brisbane on a chairlift in Kelowna two weeks ago xD ) ...more seriously I'm not sure where you see animosity towards Australian here.
  15. Mild take: continental championships should never offer any world ranking points (unless the ranking system is some form of Elo-like system where points are awarded based strength of opposition and not by final ranking)
  16. I don't see anything terribly wrong with using QSAC for athletics and still having the existing Gabba for the ceremonies and cricket (because lets be honnest, cricket is going to be at the 2032 games :P ) I kind of like the idea of "The Olympic Stadium" not needing to be the venue for athletics.
  17. I hear it is also likely that the United Kingdom will boycot the games due to Australia considering becoming a Republic.
  18. So yes, removing the best event in swimming (that also has a ton of history behind it, and produced some of the best Olympic moments period) to replace it with a pale imitation. It's not like there isn't a ton of fat to cut elsewhere in swimming if we need to do that (and dear god we do need to get rid of the mixed medley relay)
  19. Are we really going to cut the best swimming event? We should get rid of literally any other event on the program (except the individual 100m free) before the 4x100m relay.
  20. I’m guessing if Russia is banned the spot will go to the highest ranked unqualified team in the world ranking?
  21. Rūta Meilutytė is the first reserve for the women's 100m breaststroke O.o
  22. and qualify, misses out at home
  23. If you are at this point I think you want to find a way to get this game to OT. (Incidentally, "smallest number of OT periods in wins" should be the first tie breaking criteria after head to head)
  24. This crowd is fantastic. Their team is really struggling, but there is still somewhat of a chance.
