  1. Only letting women compete in the 100, 200 and 400m is the most equitable solution. Female bodies just aren’t handled to endure the stress of an 800m race.
  2. That is more a legacy of Rogge’s IOC than Bach’s imo. Admittedly the disastrous 2022 bidding process happened under Bach, but all the seeds that the IOC was reaping were sowed under Rogge and Samaranch. Like say what you will about Bach but under Agenda 2020 every Olympic has been awarded to a democracy ( ), and we haven’t had super disastrous decisions like awarding the Winter Olympics to Sochi or awarding the Summer Olympics to an Athens bid that wasn’t going to use any temporary venues.
  3. God forbid the Olympics get dragged into the 21st century. There are a lot of bad changes that the Olympic champion in Fencing has made. But cutting the hosting costs (the IOC just cannot afford another disastrous series of white elephants like Athens 2004 and Sochi 2014 left behind), modernizing the Olympic program and, yes, focussing on gender equality are all reforms that were needed. How those reforms were made I have a lot of issues with, but I really think you need to have your head in the sand to believe those reforms were optional. If anything it took the IOC too long to prioritize those things.
  4. I think there is a lot of doomerism in this forum, there are a lot of deep, big issues with the Bach era IOC, but there have been big, deep issues with every era of the IOC. Bach did lead some changes that were hard and necessary. His authoritarian and secretive style is the most concerning thing about his tenure.
  5. Given the announcement says they are all going to present their program in camera (behind close doors) to the IOC... I'm not expecting a lot of transparancey.
  6. 's era of dominance in the hammer throw comes to an end
  7. Details, details Being a member of Mugabe's cabinet isn't the most problematic thing a current IOC member has done
  8. Coventry does tick a lot of boxes: first African (I mean, she is white but still), first woman and, most importantly, 100% a Bach loyalist.
  9. I think Coe would be worse, but I also think that blocking his candidacy is just another sign that the IOC is falling into one man rule.
  10. Arbitrary application of the law is a real halmark of autoritarianism. The IOC has no issues whatsoever bending or completly ignoring the IOC charter when it favours King Thomas.
  11. Agreed, I feel like the schedule was too congested before.
  12. Finally, a (joke) proposal to add events to the Winter Olympics that I actually fully disagree with :D
  13. Eh, I actually think the luge team event is the best luge event in terms of TV. It actually has a lot of room for variance.
  14. I actually think the WDSF did a reasonably good job running the Olympic event (like whatever people think of breaking, the actual breaking competition was well run). But there is definitively a lot of incompetence when it comes to how that federation runs breaking in general. Which is why I think you see most athletes not engage with WDSF events outside of when they had to qualify for the Olympics.
  15. WSL title matches are John John Florence vs Italo Ferreira and Caitlin Simmers vs Caroline Marks.
  16. Relays just don't seem to work well in speed skating. There is a reason why the "classic" team events are pursuits and team sprints. (Well, they don't work well in long track, the relays, including the mixed relay, are amazing in short track)
  17. IMO it's the worst mixed relay (and worst relay in general, heck, maybe worst team event) across all Olympic sports, which is quite an acomplishment. Just borderline unwatcheable.
  18. Oh, def happier with that outcome. Would be good prep for 2030.
  19. Good to see qualify, especially in a tournament with NHLers their absence would have been felt.
  20. Do we know who will get the bonus spot if/when is banned? I’m assuming it will go by ranking and it will be ? Which seems like sort of a lame way to do it but w/e.
  21. Rugby 7s is definitively a much better "mini" version of Rugby than Flag Football is of American Football.
  22. Wrong province
  23. Football is football after all!
