Given all the gold medal chances has across curling, freestyle, skeleton and snowboarding it is hard to imagine how they don’t smash through their record for most successful Winter Olympics.

I wonder if we'll see more temporary indoor speed skating rinks going forward for big events. Feels like a prime candidate for a sport to hold on a temporary rink in a convention centre (hint hint to the French 2030 organizers). That being said, I understand why they didn't (and I'm grateful they didn't, because I wouldn't have been able to attend xD ) but I still kinda wish they had held speed skating at Ice Rink Piné, outdoors. Certainly would like to see the ISU hold more outdoor world cups.

Bellemare is who this Seattle-based Canadian would have selected for France, but I am extremely biassed there xD (For some context for the non-hockey fans, the Seattle Kraken was Bellemare's last NHL team)

Few sighths look better to me than a hockey arena decked out in Olympic livery. No ads on the boards is such a sight for sore eyes.

Lets be honnest here, the lack of countries that are competitive is an excuse moreso than anything else. The IOC doesn't like the TV and ticket sales numbers and they want to include more "exciting" sports, but due to their own self-imposed 2900 athlete limit they need to cut some stuff. Fundamentally the same reason why Alpine snowboarding is at risk. Personally I think both nordic combined and Alpine snowboarding are bad places to look when it comes to cost cutting, but hey, wouldn't want IOC memebers sleeping in four star accomodations.

The USOPC backing this doesn't make much sense to me because if they do believe Uhlaender got cheated and is the best choice to go to the Olympics they can... just pick her over Ro.

My hot take is that now that Peacock is showing everything (and that we have Gold Zone) the US is a better country to watch the Olympics from than Canada. Which was not the case in the 2000s and 2010s. I'll be in Canada for days -2 to 1 (ski trip at Sun Peaks :D ) and I plan to VPN to use Peacock xD

Shooting qualification not being broadcast is a bit of a joke imo, especially in the team events (where qualification has such a high importance)

Woah, Peacock has official training for both downhill and luge on their schedule :O (I know this usually gets broadcast in Europe, but I don't remember ever seeing luge official training available in Canada or the US before)
