  1. Not really, and I don’t understand why anyone would be mad at the Spanish team. Spain did what it should do, take it easy and play this as a friendly. This is just inevitable with the format. Had Canada won the fame this morning then Spain would have won tonight and Japan would be out. if FIBA wants to avoid matches like this where only one team wants to win they need to revisit the format.
  2. Fun fact: this prediction is technically 100% wrong since artistic swimming no longer has a women’s team event. It is now technically a mixed event :3
  3. This is obviously BS, but it also demonstrates just how bad the scoring system for the team event is (and it really should change).
  4. From what I read before 2020 the women's qualification system was driven by a desire from national teams to have more meaningful games in the run-up to the Olympics. The old qualification system was much better and fairer on both the men's and women's side IMO.
  5. Summer McIntosh can now swim in the 10km at the Olympics if she feels like it :P
  6. What's a bit ironic is that this is the most optimistic and excited I've ever been about Canada's Aquatic team. Just that all our eggs are in the swimming basket atm.
  7. With how diving has been going any qualification feels like a surprise :P
  8. There is a somewhat surprise qualification in the men's 10m synchro!
  9. I do not take Gracenote very seriously :P I think McIntosh will very likely win at least three golds. Deguchi, Arop, Kim and Lepage are all contenders for gold, but they are far from locks. In general Canada can be pretty hard to predict because we have a lot of depth, but other than McIntosh we don't have any heavy favorites.
  10. I mean, not really, that's still in France. Just a bit of an oddity of having the African qualifier being held in Africa but within a European NOC.
  11. As in 2002, the media cares more about Canadian skaters than Skate Canada.
  12. It's really nice to see men's artistic swimming developing well. It's a beautiful sport, and in my opinion the combination of the better judging system that was recently implemented and the development of men's artistic swimming ensure the sport will stay in the Olympics for a long time.
  13. Canada has a shot, but it's still going to be a hard shot. They did what they had to do so far, but it's just three out of six routines.
  14. Yes it does. The acrobatic routine is also being added to the Olympics in 2024, so the team event will have three phases instead of two.
  15. I think we don't need to assume at this point, Russia is banned in team events, there is no more qualification opportunities in artistic swimming and the IOC has been very clear there wouldn't be "make up" qualification opportunities for Russia. So for the first time since 1996 we'll have Olympic gold medalists in artistic swimming who aren't from Russia or ROC.
  16. appears all but certain to miss the final :O And will make the final!
  17. I lived out East back then, only ended up seeing one match (the - Ro16 that was played in driving rain in Moncton). It was a great experience though, honestly seeing an event as big as the WWC in was super special.
  18. I’m assuming the tickets will be extremely expensive xD I’m going to try to get both team Canada games in Vancouver along with maybe a couple games in Seattle too.
