  1. Nobody in the US watches it is the problem the IOC has. That and it's kinda dead as a grassroots sport - I ski and I've only seen one Alpine board in my entire life. It was displayed in a store as a curiosity and it was *old*. Much easier to participate in snowboardcross at a recrational level. I don't think it should be removed, but Alpine snowboarding has a perception problem as a dead sport, at least outside of Europe (I don't have a good sense of how often Alpine snowboarding is shown on TV in Europe and how popular those broadcasts are).
  2. Have your VPN ready! (I use ProtonVPN personally, but I’m kind of fully in that ecosystem as I use Proton Mail as well)
  3. Doesn't really help that two of the strongest countries in that particular sport are banned from the team event for well known reasons.
  4. Just another reason why it's super dumb that the NOC max in freestyle skiing isn't 40.
  5. For worse imo. The only context where I have enjoyed either of them was when Weir was the US commentator for Eurovision a couple years. That was fun. He has the right kind of energy for that, and I’m sure both of them would be great on reality TV (I don’t watch the Traitors but they are on the current US season). I don’t think either of them really has the right personality to commentate figure skating. They are a bit too… catty. I’m def gonna either watch the World Feed or I’ll VPN to the CBC coverage for figure skating.
  6. Can’t think of a more likable trio of figure skater sent by one country to the games dating back to when I started watching xD The US is lucky to have these three.
  7. I mean he did great! He super earned a spot at the Olympics! But let’s not get our hopes up for an individual medal. His chance at a medal is in the team event.
  8. I mean let’s be honest, there was some home cooking in that score.
  9. Too hung over to ski today xD
  10. Ya this is who I had in mind. I know quite a few recreational skiers who could have done better.
  11. The FIS should probably establish some sort of technical minimum in half pipe (and other freestyle discipline). Like if you go to the Olympics in moguls / slopestyle / half-pipe you should be able to land a fucking 360°
  12. Definitively an encouraging result given the injury layoff.
  13. English is a language rich in crude idioms :D
  14. Kingsbury got an 81 in qualifying. Seems like he’s in good shape.
  15. Yes and now France doesn’t want to build a speed skating oval (even a temporary one). Like to be clear, I have no problem with France winning a winter Olympic bid. I think Nice is a great city to anchor a Winter Olympic. My issue is that the bid that won 2030 was basically “ya we want to host the Winter Olympics and we’ll figure out stuff later”. To a degree every Olympic game is a work in progress but that one took it to the extreme.
  16. This plus the relative organizational mess that is French Alps 2030 makes me wonder in who’s cornflakes Sweden pissed to be passed up twice (losing to Milan I thought at the time and still do think was reasonable, but losing out to a French bid that wasn’t even half baked was such a joke).

  18. Gymnastics: Gymcastic is good, a bit on the ireverant side but they do cover women's gymnastics in particular quite thoroughly (they also cover men's, but not as closely). It's def from an American point of view. They get a lot of access during big events and usually travel on location for Worlds and the Olympics. Curling: Inside Curling does a lot of interviews with curlers and with people otherwise involved in Curling. Has a Canadian (and North American) POV. Co-hosted by Kevin Martin. More of a narative podcast, but Broomgate is absolutely worth a listen. It covers, well, Broomgate. Hockey (NHL specifically): 32 Thoughts.
  19. Chloe Kim injured herself in Laax and is doubtful for the Olympics.
  20. I paid €450.00 for a category A tickets each of the two sessions I'm going to 😅
  21. And oh so close to a win
