  1. Start writing down your suggestions...
  2. I'm with you in this, obviously as long as they are generic enough topics and not the first thought that comes into the mind of any user. One thing I have always wanted to do for instance is to open a thread to talk about the history of a specific sport, or open a thread to discuss (or just post content) about past events. I could post about that stuff in the discussion threads, but it would disappoint me to see them being buried under any random silly news that comes out.
  3. Happy 2018 everyone. I would like to fast forward to October in a time machine already (well, maybe making a stop in June-july first).
  4. You follow.... darts. You can't mock anyone.
  5. 38°C where i am right now. Worst new year ever if it stays like this tomorrow
  6. The poll really needs two separate questions... As argentine sport fan not much happened this year to be honest, so i don't know. As for sport in general not many events of my interest were held this year... I enjoyed the aquatics wch and fencing wch but that's about it. The handball wchs were a disaster for both our teams so it made me lost interest early in them despite I like Handball. So in sum a meh year for me, I guess I will vote "satisfactory".
  7. It was just a coke tea, it's silly to give one year ban.
  8. I'm going... to the youth summer ones
  9. From what I know, it's being negotiated...
  10. Ok, I accept other opinions, but... do you know that you can cut parts of the posts you quote?
  11. Snow animation? Totallympics again being northernhemispherocentric
  12. Olimpia de Oro (Argentine athlete of the Year) Delfina Pignatiello (Natación/Swimming) In a somewhat "inactive" year for argentine sport in general, the 17 year old Junior World Champion of the 800 and 1500m Freestyle receives the biggest individual recognition. Although arguably a bit of a controversial decision to give her the award (too long to explain why), nonetheless she's one of the biggest promises of this country's sport and likely the "face" of upcoming Youth Summer Olympics in Buenos Aires. Also, she's the youngest to receive this award, surpassing pole vaulter German Chiaraviglio who won it in 2006 at age 19. Congratulations! Above: Delfina posing with her south american youth games medals. Below: Receiving her Olimpia de Plata in yesterday's ceremony.
  13. Premios Olimpia 2017 The Olimpia awards are annual awards given by sport journalists of the country to the best argentinian sportsmen/women of the year. In each sport (many of them olympic, others non olympic) one athlete is given a "Olimpia de Plata" (silver Olimpia) which recognizes them as the best athlete from said sport over the calendar year. Then, among the winners of the different sports, one athlete is crowned as the "Olimpia de Oro" (Golden Olimpia), the best argentine athlete of that year. These are the winners of the various 2017 Olimpias de Plata: Ajedrez: Diego Flores Atletismo: Belén Casetta Automovilismo: Agustin Canapino Basquetbol: Facundo Campazzo Billar: Sebastian Giumelli Bochas: Guillermo Montemerlo Boxeo: Brian Castaño Canotaje: Agustin Vernice Ciclismo: Maximiliano Richeze Equitación: Martina Campi Esgrima: Jesús Lugones Esquí Náutico: Eugenia de Armas Futbol Exterior: Lionel Messi Futbol Local: Dario Benedetto Futsal: Santiago Basile Gimnasia: Federico Molinari Golf: Andrés Romero Handball: Diego Simonet Hockey sobre Césped: Gonzalo Peillat Hockey sobre Patines: Adriana Gutierrez Judo: Paula Pareto Karate: Julio Ichiki Motociclismo: Kevin Benavides Natación: Delfina Pignatiello Padel: Fernando Bellasteguin Patín: Ken Kuwada Pato: Facundo Taberna Pelota: Juan Luis Firpo Polo: Adolfo Cambiaso Remo: Rodrigo Murillo/Cristian Rosso Rugby: Emiliano Boffelli Softbol: Mariano Montero Squash: Roberto Pezzota Taekwondo: Lucas Guzman Tenis: Diego Schwartzman Tenis de Mesa: Horacio Cifuentes Tiro: Federico Gil Turf: Eduardo Ortega Pavon Voleibol: German Johansen Yatching: Julio Alsogaray/Javier Conte/Maria Paula Salerno Paralímpico: Gustavo Fernández (Tenis en silla de ruedas)
  14. I loved it and i'm not a big star wars fan.
  15. Nobody here will care but my club Independiente just won the Sudamericana cup (the europa league of conmebol let's say) in the Maracana stadium against Flamengo. One of the happiest days of my life as a football fan. Independiente, forever El Rey de Copas (the "King of cups")
  16. And no, this isn't the day either....
  17. Argentina is in the final of the Cape Town sevens... Will this be the day we win our first world sevens stage? (I can't believe we still haven't won even 1, we lost several finals).
  18. Australia have won the world league (again). I think Argentina didn't exactly get help from the video referee today, but oh well, australian corner defense was on point regardless. Congrats to them and see you next year for the new Hockey Pro League.
  19. wow what happened? after world title only 4 years ago! fora Temer.

  21. Hereee we go again with the bullshit at the world league finals, already the two top placed teams from one of the pools go out in quarterfinals. FIH gave them no rest day with their awful scheduling (the same happened to Argentina and Germany in the women's competition). Probably tomorrow we'll see Argentina and Netherlands winning and the crazyness will be complete. The message from FIH is: don't even bother making effort during pool stage... Thankfully this is the last year of this competition.
  22. Algeria last world cup. Also Morocco in 1986 I think.
  23. Saudi Arabia is no way better than Australia or South Korea (yes, I say this despite they finished above Australia in the wcq). Russia is the weakest pot 1 team by a mile. Uruguay is indeed good.
