I discussed it once with some russian user, teams could play 3 games max in the time the olympics last. Maybe 4 but that would be forcing it too much. Also it would be a "quota fiesta" with each team needing at least 22/23 players (+ all the injury replacements that are bound to happen).

Here is my take on it. As I have said several times in the past i'm philosophically against team events of individual sports (for me they don't add anything other than increasing the medal numbers of big nations). I will only make exceptions for Equestrian and Fencing because of "tradition". As for new sports, I will only add Squash because they are big enough and have been trying for a long time already. Maybe Speed skating could enter too, but I wouldn't know what events to select to make the program (they are too many) so I will leave it out for now. I would like to see a return of Polo too someday, but I know it may not be very competitive if it's a free handicap competition (and handicap-limited competitions like the world championship don't make much sense to me, I want to see the best playing). Kyrgios is injured and even if he werent he won't win this, he still doesn't care enough about tennis. Zverev hasn't still shown anything in slams, even losing to nobodies most of the time. He will win some eventually but not now. Same goes for Thiem, although Thiem is a bit more consistent than zverev against lower ranked guys. Goffin doesn't have the means to win a Slam i'm afraid. If guys that are more consistent than him like Tsonga or Berdych never could, then even less chance for him. PS. Maybe I was too tough saying "Mickey mouse stars", the point I was trying to make is that I see the odds given from betting houses being unreasonably high for both. Dimitrov? are you serious? he would need a lot of luck to do it. He has very negative record against all top players except Wawrinka (by "top players" I mean the guys that have won GS already, not Mickey mouse stars like Zverev or Thiem), I don't see him beating many of them in a match to 5 sets.

I'm with you in this, obviously as long as they are generic enough topics and not the first thought that comes into the mind of any user. One thing I have always wanted to do for instance is to open a thread to talk about the history of a specific sport, or open a thread to discuss (or just post content) about past events. I could post about that stuff in the discussion threads, but it would disappoint me to see them being buried under any random silly news that comes out.

The poll really needs two separate questions... As argentine sport fan not much happened this year to be honest, so i don't know. As for sport in general not many events of my interest were held this year... I enjoyed the aquatics wch and fencing wch but that's about it. The handball wchs were a disaster for both our teams so it made me lost interest early in them despite I like Handball. So in sum a meh year for me, I guess I will vote "satisfactory".

Nobody here will care but my club Independiente just won the Sudamericana cup (the europa league of conmebol let's say) in the Maracana stadium against Flamengo. One of the happiest days of my life as a football fan. Independiente, forever El Rey de Copas (the "King of cups")
