I like how in ice hockey the qualified teams are known 3 years in advance, while the qualification starts 6 years in advance. Meanwhile for the Summer Games we don't know the final lists until probably a month and a half before the Games start. In any normal system, these quotas should have been given at the 2025 ice hockey championships, with the final OQT being run in September of that year. But guess the IIHF wants to get it done, because let's be frank it will be the same 10 teams regardless of when they would be held.3 points

That surprises me too. Roos de Jong and Laila Youssifou are the best Dutch rowers at the moment. Together with Ymkje Clevering and Veronique Meester they could form a very strong Four or Quadruple, but the union prefers 2x silver to 1x gold. Romania is just way too strong in the W2x. There were rumors that Simona Radis from the Romanian Double Sculls was going to skiff, but luckily she didn't. Otherwise Karolien Florijn would have a problem.1 point

Doping Cases and Bans in 2023
Biathlonfan reacted to Grassmarket for a topic
Fair enough for active athletes, but we’ve seen plenty of cases where athletes retire in their own heads but don’t go through all the bureaucratic crap necessary to satisfy their national team, the governing body, doping inspectors etc etc.1 point -
Unbeliveble! Bobo won again and qualify for the round of 16. Obviously, he have no any chances against Harimoto1 point

Omar Assar again defeats a WCH Runner up from Sweden and this time it's Truls Moregardh with 4-2 to qualify to R16 , he defeated Mattias Falck before in Tokyo 2020 OG when he was also WCH Runner up1 point -
that's one point...the other being rowing the poorest sport on earth (if not on earth, in Italy for sure...our best athletes are students or people enrolled in the Military corpse -like in many other sports, but in Rowing they only rely on their salary, there's no chance to earn something extra by participating to global circuits like in swimming or athletics for instance)...1 point

Take this with a grain of salt (the person I was speaking with was interesting to say the least), but those 4 countries received at least one wildcard and Talisca Reis DID NOT. -58 kg - 68 kg - 80 kg -+80 kg received women's wildcards. Person also said got a spot, so we are at 10. who knows at this point ---- Final karate qualifier is tomorrow.1 point

Doping Cases and Bans in 2023
mrv86 reacted to OlympicsFan for a topic
Agreed. People that miss multiple tests should be regarded as dopers. We all know that there have been cases in the past were athletes retired (to dope without the risk of getting caught) and then came back better than before (just recently we witnessed the miracle of Meilutyte being thrash before retiring, just to come back stealing medals shortly after. Gatlin or Efimova would be other examples of athletes that came back stronger/as strong as before). I am glad that WADA didn’t trust him and I wish they would have banned him longer. Absolutely wouldn’t be shocked if he returns eventually.1 point -
Behind the scens on canoe slalom quota distribution. 42/44 spots have been assigned. 2 remain + 2 wildcards. COPAC has reached out with Pan Am sports to and to assign the remaining quotas1 point
