She hasn't been a serious athlete for like 3 years already IMO, the pandemic excuse was a bit of a deflection. More interested in a career as "influencer" and all that. Well, at least she'll be making much more money in that, that's for sure.3 points -

well. Talakhadze is human after all. (I was starting to believe otherwise ) for the first time after 7 years he struggled and could lose the gold medal to Lalayan . even though he still won the gold with a mediocre record I don't know if it is just one not-great tournament or the age is catching up with him finally. he is still 28 so I believe he just wasn't in a great shape.2 points -

She could have been both a swimmer and an influencer if she wanted. Rebeca Andrade is now an influencer and fashion icon in Brazil, she now has a fortune of more than 1 million dollars, and still she keeps training and has plans to compete at the World Championships this year and in Paris 2024.2 points -

The Canadian men's team is in dispute with the federation over pay for the World cup. The players want a 40% cut of the money but the federation is offering 10% They skipped training today and who even knows if the friendly vs Panama (which is a whole other story in itself) will even happen.1 point

22yo Delfina Pignatiello announced her retirement on Instagram. Will keep swimming but not at competitions. Wants to focus on other things out of the pool. A real shame. She is a 2x world junior champion, 2x YOG medalist and 3x pan american champion, multiple SA record holder as well. She was probably our best talent of the last few years sport by sport. But she didn't cope well with the pressure, the hate on social media and an extended quarantine that hurt her preparation for the Olympics. IMO also made some questionable decisions, like not going to the NCAA to stay home or changing her long time coach. Hope she makes a comeback in a few years, but she seems happier with her other activities.1 point

This time it wasn't that close like last year, bit Pizzolato is becoming like a black cat for Karlos. Weightlifting isn't a sport where you could form a duel, a rivalry between two athletes that much, as there is no face-off, but these two are the best thing to try it. That Pizzolato lift at 217 was high class, he is very impressive. Bad news for him is that Karlos is only 17-18 and will accumulate more strength and experience in the coming years. Hope losing twice to him will serve as motivation.1 point
