Very surprised with the Portuguese music, I really liked it!

So today I ran my first 5k in 36:47. It's nothing nothing to write home about, nevertheless it's a decent prep for a local B2Race next month for which I have entered. It's a team race, and there is no doubt that I will be one of the discard scores. But hey, maybe I'll get to pick a medal for somebody else's work, in a true business style!

Great stuff, @dcro! I'm back on the half marathon plan. Have struggled a bit with injuries during the year but I'm at 16 km so far meaning that it's getting retty close. I don't expect to get close to my PB from the first lockdown, but about 2 hours should be possible and just making it through a half marathon mass run will be great!

A first x km is always worth writing about

if she can train constantly together with the 2 more skilled and experienced girls, she's surely going to raise her level in the next months/years... maybe she's not going to be as good as the other 2, but you normally only need a solid 3rd fencer to be good in the team events... there are very few teams with 3 true top class specialists (actually, only Russia and France, tbh)...

we have a game-7 thriller in the SHL Finals... last night, in fact, Färjestad BK took advantage of the home ice and defeated Luleå HF in game #6 by a score of 3-1, tying the final series at 3 games apiece. 2 goals in quick succession (the 1st one in power play) about halfway through the first period gave the home team a comfortable lead in the sixth game of the SHL final clash, but with less than 5 mins still to be played, the guests suddenly shortened the distance. Unfortunately, a stupid penalty just after they re-opened the match cost Luleå another goal against, which basically was the end of the game. Almost 3 mins played with the empty net didn't lead to anything and the hosts could enjoy the success in game #6. Beach volleyball: South America guaranteed 7 spots per tournament, most likely 8 (+1 or +2 from Lima). Sucks for the smaller Caribbean islands.

So I went to Stage 3 yesterday, I was at one of the turns before Lake Balaton in a village. Thankfully the weather wasn't too bad and I managed to find a place later in Keszthely to watch the finish. It was nice to see Lake Balaton again, I haven't been there since COVID started.

New Champions League format officially a go from 2024. https://theathletic.com/news/champions-league-format/UQdwWgNKMXhb/ Group stage expands from 32 to 36 teams, which will play 8 matches (4 home, 4 away) with random teams. Standings will be in one giant league format with the top 8 qualifying directly to the 1/8, while the next 16 will play in the 1/16 stage. The format could be passable, will see how it goes, what i don't like is that from the 4 additional spots, only 1 is handed to a non-top 5 country.. But that was to be expected, as UEFA wants the status quo to remain and big clubs (leagues) to play only against each other.
