But none of the Indians seem to have qualified in women's singles as per the pdf

In the last update of qualified athlete, ITTF has already confirmed Suthirta’s quota. Will confirm Manika’s quota in next update based on April rankings.

What does it mean for the Olympic qualification and the world ranking that there officially won't be any World Table Tennis tournaments before the Games? Like, is the world ranking pretty much done for Tokyo?

Maybe? The male Hungarian athlete of our mixed double said in an interview that the world ranking is pretty much done for that event if ITTF won't announce a new competition before the Games, so technically he already qualified for Tokyo.

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anybody know who will replace North Korea in women's team competition? Will it be 15-teams competition? Can France replace them, because in WOQT they finished 10th?

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
