Now that I'm looking his case, I don't think he'll even need a 50km race.

If I'm not mistaken, the 2018 Europeans count for the olympic ranking. And he was second there with a great mark. So just doing a decent 20KM would allow him to enter easily by ranking.

Yes his 2018 European Champs 50K will still count towards world ranking points.  He scored 1283 points for that performance so a good 20K should qualify.  Currently 20 athletes have the 50K standard (based on 3 per nation), and quota for the event is 60.

Another one in this situation is Kevin Mayer ... Injured in Doha so no mark since 2018, he was planning to qualify in the US in April (4-5 or at least in San Diego the 17-18th)

The Podebrady 20km race in :CZE was cancelled today (rumors were saying thay should include a special 50k race there but now its gone) So last chance for Matej is the French championship. If it will be cancelled, it is definitive gae over...

quite ironic it would be to have a guy who was one of the main leaders fighters to keep this discipline at the Olympics in Tokyo missing the race itself :(

It's March 13, even if the french race is canceled he still has plenty of time to get a 20km decent race.

But, however, reading the "panic" around him I don't think he knows his 2018 europeans count for the ranking....

London Marathon postponed.  Would have been the British Olympic trial.  UK Athletics planning to organise a special closed-road event in late April, which I am sure other nations would want to join if possible.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases

It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places.
