GOLF at RIO 2016

The 59 top-ranked golfers (men and women) from the International Golf Federation’s Olympic Golf Ranking will be allocated a place individually.

Each country is allowed a maximum of 4 athletes per event if within Olympic Golf Ranking top-15, otherwise maximum 2 athletes per event.

As host nation, Brazil is automatically guaranteed 1 spot.

 

 

The IGF posts weekly lists of qualifiers based on current rankings for men http://www.igfgolf.org/olympic-games/qualification-system/ogr-men/

and women http://www.igfgolf.org/olympic-games/qualification-system/ogr-women/

 

Qualification will be based on world ranking as of 11 July 2016.

And this is pretty much the only chance for a 150 million people nation of Bangladesh to qualify. Their golfer is just holding on.

Oh, and btw, great to hear that there is a Golf thread. The next sport's big competition in my watchlist is a Golf one: Masters!!

It might even be the first time ever that any athlete from Bangladesh actually qualifies instead of participates with a wildcard..
