The best score of each period is combined. They also add another score which is best of the rest in the 18 month period. The athlete must participate in a minimum of 6 competition in this qualification period. They should have competed in gold level event and another gold or silver level event. ( The events are categorized as Gold, Silver and Bronze). The athlete must have participated in atleast two events in Olympic categories. Furthermore, top 8 athletes earn a quota place for every weight category. One country can have only one quota in one weight category. The next 5 quotas go to the lifters from five continents. The last quota is either for host or tripartite invitation. Thanks a lot. So, Mirabai Chanu seems certain to qualify, very decent chance of a medal too at Tokyo. Any other Indian currently in race for qualifying ?

Perhaps the biggest news in the recent months. The competition is being held in a 25m pool, so the times will not count for Olympic standards. O Ok that's sad, thanks for the information, but I hope these count as NRs in short course.

No NR but best Indian timing. NR counts only if done in Indian competition only. Bizarre but true. Tokyo - 2020 Go India Go

Hope he can go below 22.00s in 50m in 50m course and directly qualify for Olympics. 22.22s in 25m course is really good. Apeksha my friends relative aged only 13 is doing really well she should be nurtured well and surely she is the future of Indian sports in swimming. sanjaydas 9 Posted December 7, 2019 #9457 Share Posted December 7, 2019 Can the women swimmers qualify given that they did not go to the Swimming Worlds.
sanjaydas 9 Posted December 7, 2019 #9458 Share Posted December 7, 2019 It is also shocking that only 55 athletes have qualified so far; mainly in hockey.

Universiade 2019 can be used for one women to go. Most likely Virdhawal should qualify directly in swimming. Tokyo - 2020 Go India Go
