This is the last time this format is in the Olympics (next Olympics will have a speed event and a combined boulder / lead event). With any chance by 2028 they will have separate speed, lead and boulder events.

Wait a minute... :CZE Ondra, the slowest climber here, will get amazing 4 points for speed because his opponent withdrew overnight. What a joke.

On the one hand, basically everyone in the climbing community would be thrilled if :CZE Ondra won this.

 

On the other hand, the format is clearly a joke and thank God this is the only time we have to see it run this way.

Just by watching one hour of it I can safely say that this is by far the best addition to the program even with this weird combined event that shouldn't exist. This actually looks like an Olympic sport and it's also quite enjoyable to watch, easy to understand.
