Obviously nobody can win political elections without leaks, illegal wirings and hacked email accounts anymore. Man, Watergate seems like kindergarten amateur hour compared to modern tactics

Truthfully, this will absolutely have no role in the election. There’s already been much worse :(

Truly a consequence of a post-modern world. The latest scoop or scandal about celebrities is more important than discussing politics for some people, so politics now is about creating scandals for celeb-politicians. It's funny that sociologist Anthony Giddens spent years defending a new form of making politics, and now we have a truly new form but I'm pretty sure this is exactly the opposite of what Giddens wanted.

Our Supreme Court has ruled that the family of kids killed in the Sandy Hook Shooting can sue Remington (the gun company) for their role in the shooting. It’s a huge win the anti-gun lobby.

Also, the public impeachment hearings start tomorrow, so can’t wait for the next few weeks of that circus.

I'm guessing this now also means the family of everyone who was (on purpose, specifically) killed by someone running over them in a car can now sue the car manufacturer? And the family of people who have been stabbed to death can now sue whichever company made the knife that's used?

Lol basically it enables more incidents like the Indonesian parent who sued a school which her child attend to pay her for damage caused (?) and also to close the school because her child failed the exam thus unable to continue for the next grade

Americans are that stupid to follow this insane logic. Paul Walker's family sued Porsche over his death despite the driver of the car was proven to be speeding twice over the limit which led to the crash. Of course they will blame the gun producers for any shootings because they can't just blame the people who actually committed all the murders. It's simply insane.

Just one question was the gun legally obtained by the shooter?

The Court’s decision not to take on the Remington case is significant and suggests the court is not yet willing to weigh in on challenges to a federal law that has protected gun companies from lawsuits since it was enacted in 2005. The law, formally known as the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, largely shields firearm and ammunition manufacturers and sellers from liability when their products are used in crimes. There are a few exceptions, such as if a defective weapon causes death or injury or if a seller or manufacturer is found to have violated a law in the marketing or sale of the product. But the law has widely deterred families from targeting gun makers in court.

In 2014, two years after a gunman killed 20 children and six faculty members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., nine family members of victims and one survivor took on the challenge and filed a wrongful death suit against Remington over its marketing practices. Remington argued it was protected under the law, but the families’ suit said the federal law did not apply because they were accusing Remington of violating state laws in the marketing of the weapon.

    • Ceccarelli wanted to take money from the federation and train daughter in her team. The federation didn`t want to agree to this, because we are talking about a 16-year-old girl at the time. Private teams have stars with recognized achievements, e.g. Brignone or Goggia. In my opinion, Ceccarelli could have collected money from private funds, after all, with such successes of her daughter it would not be a problem. Tina Maze also separated from Slovenia at some point and created her own team. In a situation in which Colturi would start to achieve successes, then the federation should start to finance her team more + private sponsors. For me it is simple.
    • I think that It's a similar situation with Braahten in Norway but there are some differences:     - he's an adult, - his mother is Brazilian, - Norway has a lot of talent in technical events (although of course it's always better to have 1 more than 1 less).
    • Looks like the gate malfunctioned and Eriksen Sundal was literally pushed by the ad board
    • Well, we lived through Caroline Wozniacki representing Denmark and there was some talk if she could switch to Poland early on but she said no since she lived her entire life in Denmark anyway. But she was very popular here. On the other side Angelique Kerber who also has Polish ancestry actually lived in Poland on her grandfather's estate (which was a tennis academy). In the last few years except Eugenia Bujak (cycling) switching to Slovenia due to a conflict with the federation we don't really have such cases. I can understand many Italians have their opinion on Colturi & her mother alas it's boosted by the lack of other top end prospects in your skiing now (and some other winter sports). I'm surprised Italian journalists haven't figured out what's behind Colturi's switch already because it has to be money or "personal differences" either way.
    • Or is Girardelli respected in Austria these days...
    • We must ask our Austrian users if they cheered for Girardelii. But do we have any Austrian users LOL?
    • It's just that Austria had a lot of skiers in that time and we don't have any others among the young ones now.
    • Marco Girardelli went to Luxembourg one day and he had a great career. I doubt he did regret that move.

    • You know, but we still don't know what that was about. Ceccarelli has a difficult character but still changing colors to a country with which you have absolute no connetions? What would you say if Iga Swiatek fell out with the Polish tennis federation and started playing for Luxembourg or Andorra? Certainly not everyone would decide to take such a step, even if they had to give in a little in talks with the federation.    Another thing is that the Italian training system simply doesn`t work. As you can see, there are talents but we don`t know how to train them. Since the golden generation born in 1990-1995 (Brignone, Bassino, Goggia) we haven`t trained anyone who would stand on the podium in giant slalom or slalom in World Cup. So something is wrong. At the beginning of the 21st century we had a large group of good athletes in giant slalom (maybe not at Brignone's level): Karbon, Moelgg, Putzer, Gius, etc., who were able to win World Cups, win World Championship medals, etc. Now we have no one. In women's giant slalom for example: if Brignone and Bassino are gone, even getting to the first 20 in World Cup will be a problem for us.
