I usually end up in the nearest one. Maybe because I'm a member of a party :mumble:

When I’ve volunteered they’ve tried to put me as close to my residence as possible, so as to make it less of a hastle.

Also, did you get paid to volunteer?

In California we get paid a nice some of money to volunteer.

Yes, but considering the amount of time put into it, it really isn't a lot.

Especially as my party (at least here in Aarhus)(and several others) ask that you give a bit of the money to the party.

  • 2 weeks later...

I’m so saddened by the behavior and actions of my government today. The world has been so depressing this year. I feel like people have forgotten what it looks like to work towards peace. People have accepted the dehumanization of peoples across the planet. We moved closer to an unlivable world. In sports we’ve destroyed all integrity. We’ve closed our minds to the issues that should be front page news. I have begun to lose hope in this planet, it can be hard some days. I’ve never been diagnosed with depression, but I feel as though the world is so helpless right now. Everyone is stockpiling weapons, trading insults, moving from fad to fad, having a fun little genocide or two. I mean when does this stop? How do we move on from this? How do I move on from this feeling? I feel as though everyone around me is blind. I honestly wish that I had someone to understand. That’s one of the reasons I’m glad to have this forum early this spring. Believe it or not, you silly little group of sports nerds (or jocks) have gotten me through a lot. I feel that people need to have more interactions and conversations like we do on this forum. I just wish the world was a simple as pressing a green arrow.

the Ukrainian parliamant voted for the law of emergency , they are preparing themselves for the war

There will be no war. Since 2014, the Ukrainian government has ruled that the Russian military are killing Ukrainian soldiers in the east of the country. But martial law is introduced only when Russia arrested three boats (not one killed), who purposefully entered foreign territory. It's all easier. In March in Ukraine, the presidential election. A martial law allows the election to cancel.

Not only the Russians are illegally occupying Crimea, they indeed are in the Eastern-Ukraine. Hybrid warfare. I'm pretty sure that most Ukrainian soldiers die to rebel bullets though.
And the sudden martial law is pretty odd to declare now.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
