It's kata, a technical one when the opponent are "invisible"

I can totally see wushu getting into the programme one day. I'd like to watch that too.

Kata is so predictable though, results are always the same, we basically knew 7/8 medals before the start and even the 2nd bronze medal among men will likely be decided in the pool stage.

I don't see a redeeming quality in kata. Rankings are (seemingly) set in advance like in artistic swimming. That's a red flag.
