Russia defeats Italy! Huge step for them for Tokyo. This also means that Hungary will be 2nd on the final ranking, ahead of Italy.

still, it should be ITA vs HUN in the Olympic semifinal (provided both teams win theur respective quarterfinal match...and both IRI and USA are not to be underestimated)...:d

Historic quota for us. Bhavani Devi is India’s first ever Olympic fencer.

Special shout out to @Prashanth for believing in Bhavani Devi and tracking her for past 4 years.

Thanks dear, So happy for her. She really deserves it. Special thanks to Late Jayalalitha for sponsoring her initially when no one came forward.

Tokyo - 2020

a Covid cluster with 30+ positive people has been recorded after the Sabre events in Budapest...:yikes:

Japan look to be the team paying the highest prize with 5+ positive members of their staff (athletes, coaches, trainers and officials)...

this could potentially lead to another stoppage of the international activity and cancellation of the next events on the calendar...:hairpull:

Anna Kun had a pretty good day in Kazan, she almost made it to the SF. It's going to a really hard call who to send to the Zonal qualifiers (as far as I can tell we can only send one fencer). Szász is the reigning Olympic champion, but she's 38 years old, she might not have the form to qualify.

    • Who wins today? Johaug and Klaebo???   No  or  flags on the start so i cheer for Jasmi Joensuu  she’s the girl to watch this season, mind my words
    • Sarcastically of course, cheering for the fact she basically received no punishment     Tennis and football are jokes in terms of combatting doping.
    • Excited as always   My main thought was "alright, only 18 countries in the women's race and apparently no wildcards for anyone, that's decent news"
