poor day #2 for Thiam in Götzis...she still won with big margin (almost 400 pts) over Anouk Vetter (NED), but "only" managed to score 6806 points at the end of the weekend (more than 200 less than her PB and even more from the declared target of Carolina Kluft's European record)...

Marathon course for Tokyo 2020.

Finally we'll have an Olympic marathon starting and finishing in the Olympic stadium like it's supposed to!!!

 

Also, looks like there aren't any loops. Just a straight 42 km course, awesome.

Looks like they have to deal with a hill at the end, based on elevation chart. Would love to see that finish:champion:

The walks will be held on a circuit in the gardens of the Imperial Palace.

it should be the zone you can see in that map between the 32nd and 34th Km of the Marathon course, more or less (it will be a 2-km ring, as always)...

Here is the map of the race walking courses. Looks like 2km laps for 20km and 4km laps for 50km.

    • It would have been nice to keep things closer like Portland or Seattle, but I guess if you already have to take a multi-hour flight you might as well go for bigger places.

    • Honestly, I don't really like these team sports that only have 6 teams. I understand there's a limit on the number of athletes, but it should be at least 8 per gender.     
    • Every year they are incredibly slow to announce the Brazilian flag bearers, Paris 2024 was also slow.
