These might be the worst races I have ever seen.

Just kill completely *this* alpine combined, it's worse than the worst parallel garbage.

Only entertaining thing was seeing slalom ineptitude of so so so many racers.

I found them to be on par, if not more exciting than speed events (more exciting then men's downhill for sure). :p

As for the usual complaint about slalom skiers winning. Well... They are just really good in speed events as well. You really have to be good in both to stand a chance of a medal these days.

1) I won’t tell you what you should find entertaining, but are you sure that you meant men’s downhill and not men’s super G? I found men’s super g far less entertaining than men’s downhill. Also with everything I know about entertainment, I find it hard to believe that many people would agree with you. Thanks to the starting order in the combined, the whole suspense was basically gone after the first 5 or 6 racers and the rest was plain boring. Also when I look at the points in the prediction contest it looks as if the results were more predictable than in most speed races and usually less predictable results mean more entertainment.

2) Did you watch the men’s super g today? The course was a joke, it is no coincidence that someone like Schwarz looked so good today. I very much doubt that this is the usual level of difficulty for the speed part of a combined. I think the original idea of the combined is that both speed and slalom specialists have about the same likelihood of winning this event. When you look at the results of recent years that certainly wasn’t the case. Over the past few years slalom specialists (Shiffrin/Pinturault/Vlhova) did far better in speed World Cup races than the other way round, which indicates that it is easier for them to do well in speed events than the other way round. I think the solution to make it fairer would be to make the speed part longer/the slalom part shorter (time wise). I just looked at the results of the men’s combined at the last 2 Olympics and in 2014 when the speed part was 1:54 and the slalom part was 51 seconds the medalists were Viletta-Kostelic-Innerhofer. In 2018 when the speed part was 1:20 and the slalom part was 46 seconds the medalists were Hirscher-Pinturault-Muffat. I think the speed part should last roughly 2.5 times as Long as the slalom part.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

The amount of DNF both men & women today was ridiculous

Poor Italians, no medals and a fourth place so so distant; hopefully they will get some hardware for the parallel or the team event. Though Bassino will face inmense pressure individually as the big favourite for the GS, let's pray that italians win a medal before her performance.

Mikaela taking her sixth gold, 9th overall at World Championships. Today she looked so confident and poised. This sets her very well for the SL & GS. Though media is never satisfied, now talking about her 'medaling at every event' come on, let her enjoy the moment! is always talking about what's netx, records, wining streaks, just let her enjoy !!

Vlhova's attitude... well is not like she finished 4th twice like Ledecka or DNF like Brignone. ENJOY YOUR SILVER MEDAL GIRL!!

Bronze for the current olympic champ in the event, Gisin. Switzerland ladies still rolling taking medal at every event thus far.

Austria another gold with Marco Schwarz, just beating Pinturault and I think Marco will take the Slalom, have this feeling.

I did not like the start list order from 1st after Super G to the last.

The speed event should have been a downhill, not a Super-G. Changing this to a Super-G was simply an awful decision.

Starting the slalom in straight order made it even more appaling. Having the slalom in no reverse order might not be a bad idea, but you then need to have speed specialists in front, so you really, really need a downhill first.

This was garbage

No, it seems to be a different slope than in the final, so maybe there a no cameras.

    • is having its general election today.   In a big turnaround, the Liberals lead by Mark Carney are now ahead in the polls, after having been over 20 points behind as recently as December. This is mostly credited to the resignation of Justin Trudeau and America's on and off trade war, along with comments Donald Trump made about Canada becoming the 51st state.   While the Liberals are favoured to win a fourth consecutive election, there is a lot of uncertainty around whether it will be a majority or a minority government. There is also an outside chance of the Conservatives, lead by Piere Poilievre, will form a minority government.
    • Ukraine has made progress recently and lost yesterday on penalties to the UK, but that still doesn't explain why the Italian team isn't making any progress. We are sitting in a lower division for 3 years and that's with a ban for Rus and Blr. New and great coaches are being brought in and it's not giving any results. 8-10 years ago we were regularly playing in the highest division, every 2 years and that was with a much stronger teams (Russia and Belarus were there). I don't know where the problem is.

    • Many things, probably they thought it is already over and the win will come itself... but also Nitra improved their play a lot, they outplayed us in physicality in the last 2 games, they won almost every duel. Was hard to watch. Anyway I am still persuated we will finish the job at home with success on Tuesday
    • If you look at their results this season and on the Super Series, it’s not really that surprising.    I’d consider them to be medal contenders.
    • At one point it seemed we were making good progress in this sport, but in the past 1-2 years things seem to have hit a standstill..   Ivaylo Ivanov is still our only elite judoka, but he is passing 30. There were/are some promising youngsters, but they haven't been able to make a jump to the senior level. At this Euro we barely had any first round wins (not including Ivanov). In fencing and taekwondo the results are much more visible for us.
    • yes, but that's only an (important) episode... I mean, what's up with your team more in general...it looks like they got the classic "fear to win", they're not as brilliant as they were in the early games of the series
