:NOR Jarl Magnus Riiber announced that he will retire at the end of the season :yikes:

There must be something rotten in the :NOR NOC, with all these athletes retiring earlier than expected right before the Olympics (and also Braathen taking a year off to switch to :BRA)

Edit: also means that Riiber will retire without an Olympic gold, which just doesn't feel right at all :<

Something really suspicious is happening in Norway :mumble: If this was all after Cortina, then no one would bat an eye, as it is expected for big names to retire after the Olympics. But doing it a year prior and not some random names, it's 3 of their biggest stars is very strange.

Guess Norwegian minds and life choices are still baffling to people from this (my :d) part of Europe.

Rumors are they are all retiring to go compete for Qatar.

Jk

With Russia’s ongoing ban I’m a little surprised at least one of :BRN:UAE:QAT hasn’t suddenly gotten very good at biathlon, cross country skiing, figure skating and/or ice hockey.

I know Norway is heavily cutting finances in ski jumping so presumably there is some economical shift in sports over there but it would be insane to have the likes of JTB or Riiber compete for Qatar or any other petroleum country now

This does not at all seem related, as Crohn's disease is given as the - understandable - reason. Also might explain why he hasn't been that dominant lately.

Same for the Boe brothers, that feels entirely different than the Braathen thing.

    • What are the odds WTA/ITF has Kostyuk vs Potapova AO R1 just to see if the hand shake happens?
    • Malinin  opted for the 4-Axel in his Short Program, but faltered, landing him in 3rd thus far (and only 0.05 away from 4th!).  Surely he has the tools to rise back up in the Free Program.  (Also, perhaps this will serve to show him that he is in fact beatable.)
    • I think they incorrectly translated Ukrainian word "nahorody" - it is not a full synonym of "medal". Its cocrrect translation is "award". Meanwhile russian tennis playes switched for Potapova ->  Rakhimova ->
    • Ukrainian diver Lyskun switches allegiance to Russia, loses all medals | Olympics News | Al Jazeera   'loses all medals'   I would assume Al Jazeera could have been a bit clearer and mention this would presumably only be national medals. I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
    • That's what I'd plan as well (except for MelFest), but I also know I am hypocritical enough to still want to watch the show and have a fun evening

For Planet VPN....well, let us know if you find out.   fil-taker-list-25-26-winterberg-1.pdf   Also, should have mentioned above that the Nations Cup races today are just over one leg, whereas there are two runs in each of the World Cup races.
