They won't be known until the 15th and there is a World Triathlon Series race in Yokohama on the 15th, so the rankings could change even on the last day!

ah yes I thought there was more racing for the French chances are?

Rio qualification simulation is available here (situation with one week to go) http://www.triathlon.org/rankings

Jordan is currently the only tripartite nation which has an eligible triathlete, hopefully they'll get it. Both tripartite quotas in women's event and at least one tripartite quota in men's event will surely get reallocated back to rankings.

That is a shame, because :MLT:GHA:BER:SOL:PNG:BIZ:BAR all competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, if they had entered a lower rank event they could have got a tripartite quota.

Well Flora Duffy will get a quota for Bermuda through the rankings and I think Barbados has a man that will qualify through the rankings too (should things remain the same).

Yes, it looks very unlikely that :BAR will lose it in the last week. :BER is completely safe :)

I made a small sim of Triathlon qualification; if my math is not wrong (I've forgot a lot since High School :p), here's what it looks like before the last two events (one World Series and one Continental Cup, that only counts for points list)

Men's Individual

Continental Qualification Events (if not accepted, quota goes to Olympic Qualification List):

Africa :RSA rejected the spot.

America :MEX

Asia :JPN

Europe :GBR

Oceania :AUS

World Qualification Event (if not accepted, quota goes to Olympic Qualification List): :ESP  :RSA  :FRA

Olympic Qualification List: :ESP  :ESP  :POR  :GBR  :GBR  :AUS  :RUS  :RSA  :AUS  :SUI  :ITA  :FRA  :RUS  :POR  :RUS  :AZE  :USA  :SVK:MEX  :FRA  :HUN  :SUI  :NZL  :BEL  :USA  :GER  :ITA  :ARG  :GER  :NZL  :NOR  :USA  :CRC  :BEL  :DEN  :BRA  :CAN  :ARG  :ISR - entirely qualified up to second French quota on this list; other places and quotas might change.

Points List - Open to the best unqualified NOC from each continent (if not accepted quota goes to next eligible NOC on Point List):

Africa :MAR - this quota will only be awarded if its competitor in the World Series finishes in 26th place or above; no other NOC from this continent is eligible and the place will go to Olympic Qualification List.

America :BAR - if it advances through qualification list, the first reserve is :PUR

Asia :CHN- if it rejects the quota, it goes to :KOR

Europe :AUT  - If it gets the spot via qualification list, the quota goes to :UKR

Oceania - No country is eligible, so the spot is reallocated to qualification list

Host country quota (reallocation): :MEX

Other reallocations:  :POR  :IRL

NOC's fulfilling conditions for tripartite Invitation (up to 2 places):  :BAR:JOR - probably only one place will be used as Barbados is almost sure to grab the spot from the Points List

NOC's already securing 3 places (maximum 8 NOC's): :AUS  :ESP  :FRA  :GBR  :RUS - other countries that can secure a maximum 3 quotas are :USA  :MEX  :POR  :RSA  :CAN  :AUT and  :GER

Women's Individual

Continental Qualification Events (if not accepted, quota goes to Olympic Qualification List):

Africa :RSA rejected the spot.

America :CHI

Asia :JPN

Europe :SUI

Oceania :AUS

World Qualification Event (if not accepted, quota goes to Olympic Qualification List): :USA  :GBR  :GBR

Olympic Qualification List: :NZL  :USA  :USA  :NED  :BER  :GBR  :CZE  :AUT  :AUS  :IRL  :ITA  :JPN  :GER  :MEX  :BRA  :GER  :AUS  :JPN  :AUT  :ESP  :RSA  :NZL  :RUS  :UKR  :SUI  :HUN  :POL  :FRA  :RSA  :ESP  :GER  :ESP  :SLO  :ITA  :CAN  :RUS  :HUN  :BEL  :NZL  - entirely qualified up to first Hungarian quota on this list; other places and quotas might change.

Points List - Open to the best unqualified NOC from each continent (if not accepted quota goes to next eligible NOC on Point List):

Africa :MRI - if the quota is rejected no other NOC from this continent is eligible and the place will go to Olympic Qualification List.

America :ARG - this place will be defined in the continental cup event; to secure the quota Romina Palacio must finish first or second and also two places above Elizabeth Bravo of :ECU; other results might see the later NOC qualified.

Asia :CHN- if it rejects the quota, it goes to :HKG

Europe :SWE - If not used, the quota goes to :EST

Oceania - No country is eligible, so the spot is reallocated to qualification list

Host country quota (reallocation): :CAN

Other reallocations:  :BEL  :RUS

NOC's fulfilling conditions for tripartite Invitation (up to 2 places):  None, so if ITU confirms this, another two spots from qualification list will be awarded.

NOC's already securing 3 places (maximum 8 NOC's): :AUS  :GBR  :JPN  :USA  - other countries that can secure a maximum 3 quotas are :GER  :ESP  :NZL  :RUS  :AUT  and :CAN

So far from Germany only Anne Haug is qualified, all other athletes have to finish top 8 in Yokohama if they want to qualify.

German women who can still qualify: Anja Knapp, Rebecca Robisch, Hanna Philippin, Sophia Saller, Laura Lindemann

German men who can still qualify: Gregor Buchholz, Steffen Justus, Justus Nieschlag, Franz Löschke

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

today's race in Japan is over, we know the Olympic qualified?

So here's provisional quota, prior to confirmation by NOC's

Men's Individual

Continental Qualification Events: :AUS  :GBR  :JPN  :MEX

World Qualification Event: :ESP  :RSA  :FRA

Olympic Qualification List: :ESP  :ESP  :POR  :GBR  :GBR  :AUS  :RUS  :RSA  :AUS  :FRA  :SUI  :ITA  :RUS  :POR  :RUS  :AZE  :USA  :FRA  :SVK  :NZL  :MEX  :NOR  :HUN  :GER  :SUI  :GER  :BEL  :USA  :BEL  :ITA  :ARG  :NZL  :CAN  :USA  :CRC  :BRA  :DEN  :ARG  :CAN  :IRL  :ISR  :MEX  :POR

Points List: :AUT  :BAR  :CHN

Reallocations:  :HUN - this place will be awarded only if one of the tripartite places is not allocated. First reserve is :CAN but there are already 8 NOC's with three qualified athletes, so Canada will only get it if one of those committees does not confirm their 3rd place.

NOC's eligible for tripartite:  :JOR

NOC's already securing 3 places (maximum 8 NOC's): :AUS  :ESP  :FRA  :GBR  :RUS  :USA  :MEX  :POR

Women's Individual

Continental Qualification Events:  :AUS  :CHI  :JPN  :SUI

World Qualification Event:  :GBR  :GBR   :USA

Olympic Qualification List: :NZL  :USA  :USA  :NED  :BER  :GBR  :AUS   :CZE  :AUT  :IRL  :ITA  :GER  :JPN  :MEX  :AUS  :BRA  :GER  :JPN  :AUT  :ESP  :RSA  :NZL  :RSA  :RUS  :UKR  :SUI  :HUN  :POL  :FRA  :ESP  :ESP  :GER  :CAN  :SLO  :ITA  :RUS  :CAN  :HUN  :NZL  :BEL  :NED  :BEL

Points List:  :CHN  :ECU  :MRI  :SWE - If Sweden gets one of the reallocations, :EST takes its place.

Reallocations:  :SWE  :CAN

NOC's eligible for tripartite: None, they'll be likely reallocated.

NOC's already securing 3 places (maximum 8 NOC's): :AUS  :GBR  :JPN  :USA  :ESP  :GER  :NZL and :CAN if ITU confirms the reallocated place.

    • so, the 2025 season is officially over, after the World Cup Finals have been completed with the Shotgun events, where (once again!!!) a new format for the final stage of each event has been experimented for the first time (before it becomes a regular feature in the next season)   the new format enlarge the starting field in each event's final stage to 8 shooters and dramatically shortens the number of target shots to decide the placings   the only characteristic remaining is the progressive eliminations principle   now, as written above, 8 shooters make the final, where after only 12 targets the eliminations start: by then, the last 2 shooters must leave the competition (7th and 8th ranked)   after 12 more targets (24 in total), 2 more shooters have to leave the final (5th and 6th ranked)   then, the crazy carousel starts: every 4 targets we have a new elimination  so, after 28 targets, the 4th ranked shooter is done; after 32 targets the bronze medallist is known and after only 36 targets (provided there's no need for a shoot-off), compared to the previous 60, the gold and silver medallists are crowned   I guess the tiktok people with the attention span of a chinchilla have won once again
