At 16:00 CET today we have the start of the 24 hours of the Nürburgring, one of the biggest and most awesome races of the year :cheer:

Spotter's guide for the top class (SP 9):

Well this turned out to be a massive disappointment for everyone involved: racing was stopped half an hour before midnight due to fog (not unusual there), but after a few laps behind the safety car in the early Sunday afternoon (until then it wasn't even possible to try) the race was called off entirely and the result was called at a little over 7 hours into the race.

This weekend we can hopefully have better luck, the 24 hours of Le Mans is on and that's usually a lot less weather-influenced. It absolutely has every bit of potential to be one of the most entertaining and fun editions in many, many years, with this utterly massive field of Hypercar competitors (most of whom are definitely competitive):

I'm very excited for the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. After growing up in the LMP1 era, it's weird to see so many entries in the top class

It's awesome to see many manufacturers return, but i would have preferred, if they kept it to 2 cars per team. There is no need for 3 AF Corse or Porsche cars, given that other teams use their models as well.

To be fair, there are only two factory Ferrari teams, the #83 is run by a different team (just like the JOTA Porsches and the Proton Porsche are separate from the 4, 5 and 6 Penske Porsches).

It's been a fantastically entertaining race until 4am or so, when the rain came, which is not necessarily bad, but it was just too much to go without safety car and it's still going on an hour later (with probably another hour to go) :(

So the best time of the race, the night, has basically been neutralized half the time due to weather. For now, it's Toyota (both), Porsche (a Penske and a JOTA), Ferrari (both factory cars and the AF Corse car) and possibly Cadillac (both) that are still in it for the podium positions.
