:ITA  First target reached: knock out stage :yes  The interest for the Women's NT grow up now, in Italy finally......

Win a group have "a little" advantage for next round, ITALY will play against one of the best 3rd between Nigeria, China or 3rd of group F (Chile or Thailand)

Respect but no fear, all is possible now, we have a great group of players!!!! :cheer:

DARE TO DREAM !!!

7.3 million viewers (33% rating) yesterday night for Italy vs Brazil on the Italian TV...:yikes:

the game was broadcasted live by both the main channel of our public TV, Rai 1, and by the main sport channel of our main pay-tv, skysport uno (1) on sky Italia...

to make a comparison, it's about the same amount of viewers and rating of the men's game vs Bosnia last week (European qualifiers) and well above the men's game vs Greece a few days earlier (both games were also live on our main public channel, rai 1, more or less at the same time)...

before this world cup started, if someone would say the women's games would have such kind of audience, he would immediately have been taken to the mental health pavillion at the nearest hospital...

Good to hear, this Italian team deserves the attention. They have been the surprise of the tournament for sure.

If New Zealand beats Cameroon by 2+ goals and there is no draw in the Scotland vs Argentina game then Nigeria is OUT and hence Italy would play China. Nigeria must hope for draws in either Scotland vs Argentina, Cameroon vs New Zealand or in both if Chile beats Thailand by 3+ goals which is still probable. All in all there's like 75% chance Italy plays China and only 25% they play Nigeria.

It's still a good quarter to be in. Depending on how today's matches go we could have Argentina finishing second in their group and Italy essentially avoiding the top teams until the semis. To be honest, I wouldn't be afraid of Canada/Netherlands if I was Italy, they are both winnable matches.

well, the Dutch just destroyed us the last time we played them...

OK, it was quite a long time ago (and especially, we didn't have a coach like Milena Bartolini at that time, yet)...

however, I think we are still at a point where we can't underestimate anybody and we can't be so arrogant to choose who's better or not to play against...

but hopefully, with a bit of luck, the Olympic dream might well come true...:fingers:

Yeah, Germany & Italy appear to have the easiest path to semi-finals tbh. On the other hand is France who might have to play Brazil & USA to get there.

It's still very possible that Germany will play either Brazil or Japan in the round of 16. And Italy had a very difficult group. So that's a reward for winning it. ;)

    • If Colturi were to return to Italy, we will have another super duo after Goggia and Brignone. If Colturi has to return, it would be right now, when alpine skiing is so popular here. There are still girls like Pirovano, who are quite young and are already started winning. Alpine skiing in Italy is similar to ski jumping in Poland: there are speak about no young talents, but there is always someone new – it is a matter of the popularity of these sports in these countries and the large amounts of money invested in them.

    • Holdener beat Aicher for 2nd place by 0.04 so Aicher has to win the last GS to have any chance for the overall (trails Shiffrin by 85 pts).
    • Shiffrin wins by 1.32 secs! Business as usual
    • Anna Trocker takes the lead despite a big mistake. Maybe there is some future for  alping skiing
