7 out of 8 teams in the quarterfinal are from Europe + Denmark isnt even here + Spain only lost against USA thanks to a late penalty, but somehow someone still thought that Europe only deserves 3 spots at the olympics ... complete insanity!

Europe should have at least 6 spots:

- Host (Japan)

- Oceania (Australia)

- 3 Americas (USA, Brazil, Canada)

- Asia (China)

- 6 Europe (France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, England, Italy/Norway/Denmark/Spain)

Don't forget that France is hosting this thing. I'm sure that EVERYTHING will be in their favor, if need be.

Yeah ... that is why the draw was rigged ... someone thought that USA would be the easiest possible opponent for France in the quarterfinal ...

France vs USA should be Bibiana Steinhaus as ref since it's the non-German QF half as well. Anything else would be totally suspicious.

I dont think you can doubt every referee simply based on nationality, but if you argue like that, then even Steinhaus could be "suspicious":

If USA wins, then olympic qualification will be easier for Germany ...

This is exactly why I think this match shouldn't have a referee from a european country that's still in the Competition.

That someone is IOC and they always promote continental diversity over strenght of the event. That's why table tennis has only two athlete per nation quota for instance, otherwise China would have send like 5 men (who are all ranked in Top 7 of the world rankings) and then it would be a medal sweep one Games after another. Yes, UEFA is the strongest football federation but it doesn't matter. IOC will never allow 8 UEFA teams, 2 CONCACAF & 2 Asian just because it's the strongest potential line-up.

Yeah, the Olympics has always been about trying to achieve a balance between having the top athletes/teams and having a diverse group of competitors. At best you can argue that the African/South America play-off should be reallocated to Europe. The other option is to have one quota for each continent (+ host) and have the other five be decided in a secondary tournament.

Australia isn't part of Oceania in football.

I like this system:

3 Americas (USA, Canada, Brazil/Argentina)

Oceania (New Zealand)

Host (obviously)

3 Asia

3 Europe

1 Last Chance tournament/or best non-qualified team based on world ranking.

Im so tired of everything being Euro-centric.

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
