Lol at the Northern Americans...we don't care so the tournament is not worthy, it should be cancelled and replaced by the NBA Summer League Special Edition.

And Canada has never shown to be a major player in international basketball...they could have done it this time but if they don't care the World Cup will be fine without their supposed top team.

Why? USA is missing tons of players but apart from that most of the best players are here except for Simmons. It's not as if Canada has any stars, even with everyone participating Canada would have been an outsider for a medal considering that no canadian player even remotely has the quality of Giannis or Jokic.

Though, granted, even the Olympics are weird in that regard given that the US could probably have the best, second best, third best and fourth best teams.

 

Either way, it’s shaping up to be a bit of a boring competition. Big scrap for silver while the :USA C team dominates.

 

Most nations are here with their best players, only the US is missing tons of players + Canada, but even at their full strength Canada wouldn't have been favorite for a medal. In ice hockey the absence of players has a big influence on the final result, but in basketball that probably won't be the case. USA will still win and Serbia will probably win silver like they always do even if all the best teams compete.

    • This might be unpopular but it would allow way more sports and quotas and cities to host at a lower cost. 
    • I think Julia Tannheimer will continue to perform so well on the flatter courses in Ruhpolding and Antholz, which will suit her technique. Oberhof will be more exciting, the courses are very demanding, but quite comparable to the World Championships in Lenzerheide. That's why I'm really looking forward to Oberhof this season. Anyone who can cope well with the courses in Oberhof should also be able to run at the front at the World Championships.

    • Thanks for your predictions, they are very interesting.   But here it will be a different format. Combined events - pairs of athletes, one male/female will perform in downhill and other will perform in slalom. E.g. Team SUI 1 Odermatt plus Meillard.
    • Interesting (optimistic) predictions for GB. Don‘t See Them winning 5 golds (more than China and as many as Canada). I think 3 golds are more Realistic (Brookes + 2 in curling/skeleton). Especially gold for Bankes seems To be a rather optimistic prediction, given that Casta is 11 years younger and just beat Bankes.
