Meanwhile Andy Murray tested positive for covid...  as did Madison Keys.

 

Magda Linette has apparently pulled out due to a knee injury.

 

At this rate all the lucky losers that travelled to Australia will get a MD entrance.

 

WTA LLs:  Bonaventure (In already, could be for Yastremska though), Gasparyan, Schmiedlova, Buzarnescu, Tsurenko, Rakhimova.

 

EDIT: Apparently Yastremska has flown to Australia today anyway. So Bonaventure is in for Linette and Gasparyan will probably get Keys' spot.

Both Keys and Murray will be replaced? Nonsense. Then for what is this two weeks qurantine before first warm-up tournament?

They both should fly alone to Australia and then be closed in isolation in their hotel rooms until tests will be negative.

 

 Tennys Sandgren is also tested positive and he arrived to Australia anyway

Keys said she's out already. I seriously doubt Australia allows someone who tested positive to fly into the country and quarantine here. I mean self-quarantine is for healthy athletes to begin with.

 

French Open prevented false-positive players from taking part so there's no way Australia allows Sandgren to play IMO.

Breaking news in our tennis federation site claim that Schmiedlová was just added officially to the main draw.

 

So 4 SVK in AO Singles, Andrej Martin, Norbert Gomboš among M and Viki Kužmová with Anna Karolína Schmiedlová in W Singles

 

 

No Kližan nor Lacko is unfortunate but expected result of their very poor recent form, in other hand I feel So sorry for Rebecca Šramková, she was so close...

Over 24 players won't be allowed to practice by 2 weeks (will not able to even leave their rooms) due to two positive covid tests from passangers in one fligt from Los Angeles and one from Abu Dhabi. Among affected players are Kei Nishikori, Sloane Stephens, Victoria Azarenka, Pablo Cuevas, Vasek Pospisil, Tennys Sandgren, Guido Pella, Juan Ignacio Londero, doubles players Artem Sitak and Santiago Gonzalez.
