  1. 1. Would you like E-Sports to be contested at the Olympic Games?

    • No, it's against the tradition of sport

I don't think shooting for example is so much more physically demanding, I mean, judging by the sizes of quite a lot of the competitors. By which I'm not saying shooting is not demanding, I'm saying e-sports is a lot more physically demanding than most people think. Not allowing e-sports simply because "there's no physical activity" only shows one doesn't really have a clue (although that does sound perfectly like what the IOC might do then :p ), not allowing it because the games are all made and owned by large companies and the competition would be one huge commercial for them is a way better reason.

So I can't vote yes or no in this poll: I'd vote no, but not because 'it's against the tradition of sports', because it's not, or at least not more than other 'artificial' sports (basically sports besides running fast, swimming fast and fighting) :p

I love video games and I even think about starting a PhD research in video games and literacy. But as a sport? No. Olympic sport? Big no.

It is demanding, just like any "mind sport" is. Yet, it doesn't recquire any athletics skills.

Shooting, neither, but it is an historic olympic sport, been there since the beginiing. IMHO, it's enough to warrant some kind of historic exemption to this rule.

I wouldn't cry neither if the IOC was to droping shooting from the progam anyway.

Archery is a form of shooting that doesn't get bashed here. :p

It's outdoor, archers look relatively fit - mostly - (Brady :bye:), it recquires some strenght...

There always will be some kind of grey zone anyway (archery, golf...), but a line need to be drawned somewhere.

Shooters are as equally fit as archers... :dunno:

Shooters also need strength - do you know what recoil is? ;) And shotgun shooters have to have more reflex and concentration, as they are shooting to the moving target.

Recoil and 10m air pistol ?

Exactly the kind of arguments that an "e-sport" (or poker, or billard, or whatever) fan would would use for an olympic inclusion. Something you apparently were against. Jeez....

    • This came out on the official website yesterday. Updated list of events and competition schedules in Japanese.   Padel and Teqball are on the schedules. Looks like two events for Padel and five for Teqball.   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会競技プログラム.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会デイリースケジュール.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会セッションスケジュール.pdf   On the sports programme PDF, Padel is #25 and Teqball is #38.
    • looks like the agreement is the international federations are in fact hosting the event, not the AG organizers, so everything is up to them to make it happen.   Teqball is now confirmed to have 5 events (singles and doubles) does it mean easy 5 gold medals for Thailand ?   Padel is not 100% confirmed yet. I assume there are still talks ongoing between the IF and the Japanese organizers.
    • I feel like this year's Eurovision is more wide open than ever 😂   There isn't a clear favorite, and that makes everything more exciting. Finland is looking strong, sure, but Ukraine always knows how to surprise people and connect with them. I was checking out the odds a bit, and I was struck by how quickly they're rising.   By the way, I found a site that compares the odds pretty clearly: https://casasdeapuestaseurovision.com/   It’s nothing special, but it gives you an idea of how things are shaping up before the semifinals. Although we all know how this goes… at Eurovision, everything can change in a matter of minutes
