Only 2:02 800m heat for Semenya :p

Tomorrow is the final, want to bet? I say she goes under 1:55 :d

The winner gets one internet point

i think your point about Semenya is well understood across this forum, i don't see need to repeat it like 10000 times

And to actually get back on the topic of athletics instead of personal stuff, Kenyan trials are over:

Main things are of course in the middle-to-long distances:

Women's 800m: Wambui beats Sum and will likely battle it out with Semenya and Niyonsaba for the medals in Rio.

Women's 5k: Apparently Obiri has really made the move from 1500m to 5k now, with success.

Women's 10k: Aprot didn't run in the trials, but got a wild card thanks to her solo 30:26 in Durban last week.

Men's 800m: Kipketer ( ) for basically the first time ever showed a good tactical race and won ahead of Rotich, while Rudisha surprisingly had to give it everything in the last meters to get the third and final spot... (while in the semi's he was still clearly the best)

Men's 1500m: No Silas Kiplagat, did I miss him falling back in form or something?

Men's 3000m steeple: Birech surprisingly didn't even finish the race, while Kemboi will go for his umpteenth major gold joined by the two Kipruto's.

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
